New Show, New Home: Rosie O’Donnell Picks Up Chicago Home
Rosie O’Donnell recently purchased a brownstone in Chicago for a reported $2.5 million to coincide with her new show on Oprah’s new network OWN.
Previously, O’Donnell told reporters that she was planning on commuting to Chicago from her home in New York where she shares custody of her four children with her ex-partner. Perhaps after seeing the home, currently owned by a OWN staffer, she changed her mind.
According to the Chicago Tribune, what really sweetened the deal for ‘Donnell is that the seller agreed to include all the furniture.
O’Donnell first got her start doing stand-up comedy and moved into film, later hosting a daytime television show “The Rosie O’Donnell Show.” She’s returning to her talk show roots with a similar evening talk show on OWN.
O’Donnell’s new place is located in the Lake View neighborhood of Chicago. While median Chicago home values are not too high, Lake View real estate bucks that trend. Lake View is home to several high-end homes (as well as several high-end owners.)
Built in 2007, O’Donnell’s home is on the newer side of buildings in Chicago. The brick 5-bedroom, 6-bath house has 6,000 square feet of living space on three levels — plenty of room for O’Donnell and her four kids.
The house has 11-foot ceilings, custom cabinetry and molding, and a top-of-the-line security system. Additional features include a home theater, rooftop deck and heated three-car garage.
