Nicole Kidman hasn’t lived in this brilliant apartment overlooking the Hudson River in years, but that has not stopped the pairing of the Australian actress and the lower Manhattan condo from garnering much attention since 2010, when Kidman sought to rent the place out for $45,000 a month.
Now, however, the breakup between the two is complete.
According to The Real Deal, Kidman has sold the 3,785-square-foot condo at 176 Perry St. #12S, New York, NY 10014 for $16 million. The Academy Award winner originally purchased the home in the Richard Meier-designed building in 2003, via the name of her younger sister, Antonia Hawley.
But the apartment that was supposed to be her West Village home after her 2001 divorce from actor Tom Cruise did not pan out. It was reported that Kidman became disenchanted with the condo after the construction of a nearby Meier-designed tower at 165 Charles St. partially blocked what were supposed to be unobstructed views.
So without much ado, Kidman and husband Keith Urban bought a Chelsea condo for $10 million. The disruption was probably worth it. According to Curbed, the couple’s new place has a sky elevator that lifts their car straight up to their penthouse.
