Nicole Richie Gets Married at Dad’s $10 Million Pad
People reports that the French garden ceremony under a tent not only included 130 of the couples’ closest friends and family but also a real live elephant! The elephant was present as a symbol of good luck, and also, one of the two things Nicole has always wanted on her wedding day. Her other wish was to be outfitted in an amazing dress, which she accomplished by choosing a hand-draped Marchesa gown.
What venue could possibly house such an extravagant ceremony (and large animal)? Luckily, Mr. and Mrs. Madden didn’t have to look too far. Nicole’s father, legendary singer-songwriter, Lionel Richie, offered up his 28-room mansion for his daughter’s special day. The 1929, Italian Renaissance Revival estate (pictured above) is undoubtedly a picturesque wedding location. Public record shows Lionel purchased the expansive property in 1999 for $6,000,000. The Beverly Hills crib now has a Zestimate over $10,000,000 and rocks ivy-draped terraces, an outdoor swimming pool, 6 bedrooms, 13 bathrooms, and over 12,500-sq ft of living space. The home and all its decadence was featured in the May 2007 issue of Architectural Digest and, if you’re interested in an insider’s look, features a full slideshow of the luxurious abode.
The Richie-Madden family, which also includes 2-year-old Harlow and 15-month-old Sparrow, still reside in the Laurel Canyon house the couple purchased back in June 2009 for $1,912,000.
