Regular readers of Mortgages Unzipped are aware of the prolific presence of one of the contributors to this blog. Tom Vanderwall’s name is at the top of our contributors list because he is our most active author. He hasn’t written many posts lately, with good reason. Tom and his wife are the adoptive parents of two children from Haiti. They have also been deeply involved with an orphanage in Petionville Haiti for some time now. When I spoke with Tom a few days ago he told me his days have been 10 to 15 hours that are concentrated on the efforts that he and his wife have been involved with. He was also eagerly awaiting his wife’s return from the orphanage. Having been Mr. Mom for 2 and half weeks, I could imagine how happy he and the children are to have her home.
Tom has established a web log entitled God’s Littlest Angels In Haiti. He has also established a fund raising effort that, at the time of writing this post has raised over $160,000 from almost 1200 people. Amazing. Tom is on the board of the orphanage that will benefit from this tremendous effort. Folks like Tom and his wife are grand testaments to the generous heart of Americans everywhere.
Please take a minute to read Tom’s original post at the Bloodhound Blog regarding the relief effort and if you can, click the “chip in” link and help him reach his goal to help the little souls in Haiti that still so desperately need it. Tom, on behalf of Zillow and the MU team, thanks for all you and your wife are doing, we’re very proud of you.
