Jay Thompson Joins Zillow as Director of Industry Outreach and Social Media

Today marks my 10th day here at Zillow, and as I mentioned in my last blog post, there’s an opportunity to effect major change in our industry by improving  the relationships between Zillow and brokers, agents, MLSs, Realtor® associations, franchisors, and more.

To help us continue on this path, I’m pleased to announce Arizona real estate broker and real estate social media giant Jay Thompson is joining Zillow’s partner outreach team as director of industry outreach and social media. This growing team includes Sara Bonert, our director of broker services and Brad Andersohn, industry outreach manager.

Jay is a highly respected and extremely knowledgeable industry voice.  His insight will help agents and brokers learn how best to use Zillow to grow and market their business. It’s a win for everyone.

Jay founded real estate blog The Phoenix Real Estate Guy in 2005 and developed it into one of the most widely read real estate publications in the country. I have read nearly everything Jay has written in the past four years and must admit I am envious of his style and his wit, but mostly his no-nonsense approach in explaining our business in practical terms to practitioners and consumers alike.  Jay has been named one of Inman News’ Most Influential Bloggers multiple times as well as one of Inman News’ 100 Most Influential Real Estate Leaders for 2010.

Yes — this continues the trend of another Arizonan leaving the sun for Seattle.   I think Jay will find the raindrops are few and far between as we work together to create new, mutually beneficial relationships with valued industry partners.
