Tips for Working On the Go
Tackling your to-do list isn’t easy when you’re constantly on the road. When your days are made up of driving from showing to inspection, you end up spending a lot of time away from the office. If your car is your best friend and you’re spending more time at Starbucks (or anywhere else with free Wi-Fi) than in the office, here are some easy tips to make working on the go more productive.
Sync your work with apps.
Staying up-to-date with all your documents gets confusing when you have different versions saved on your tablet, laptop, and phone. Cut down on the paperwork you have to carry around by digitizing rental applications. Streamline all your documents and work more efficiently with apps like DropBox, Google Drive, or Evernote. You can download documents to work on for later, and save them to the cloud so you have the most current version no matter which device you’re using.
Plan your day.
All the driving that takes time out of your day. It’s easy to get sidetracked when you’re out and about. Increase productivity by making a calendar, crossing items off your to-do list, or creating a daily routine to stay productive. Apps such as Asana, Google Calendar, or Apple iCal also sync across your devices and send you alerts throughout the day to keep you on track.
Get a Hot Spot.
Do you find yourself driving around looking for a coffee shop so you can answer some e-mails or send out a document? Maximize your time and access the Internet from anywhere by getting a mobile HotSpot. Talk to your current mobile phone provider and see if you can add it on to your plan.
Create an on-the-go office.
Clutter accumulates easily with no desk to keep stuff under control. Invest in a work or laptop bag that has room to keep all your devices, chargers, and files. Keep an extra headset and car charger in the car. If you find that all your stuff is tangled up and floating around the backseat, look into a behind-the-seat organizer. Work more efficiently and lower your stress levels by organizing your workspace.
