We asked Mark what makes him successful. Here’s what he had to say:

Zillow: Why are you successful as a real estate agent?
Mark: I attribute any success in real estate to a strong desire to do better every day. I’m constantly in pursuit of ways to improve the service that I provide and I approach each day with gratitude. I genuinely care about the people that I get the opportunity to work with, and I believe those who work with me can feel my level of commitment to them. Because of my desire to make a deeper personal connection, my clients are happy to share their positive experience with friends and family.

Zillow: Who or what inspired you to work in real estate?
Mark: My Aunt Karen is the reason I took the leap into real estate. If it hadn’t been for her belief in me, who knows what I would be doing today. Aunt Karen also provided me with the foundation to build a successful real estate career and instilled the importance of a good reputation with other real estate professionals in addition to the people I serve.

Zillow: What is the best part of your job?
Mark: One of the best parts of my job is taking a situation that seems to be going nowhere and helping to find a solution. There are moments when you can hear all the stress and worry in a client’s voice. It is a great feeling when, after all the emotional high and lows, we can find a way to get the deal done.

Zillow: What are three pieces of advice you have for success on Zillow?
Mark: Three pieces of advice would be to:

  1. Follow up immediately and personally.
  2. Make sure to get your clients to review their experience with you.
  3. Partner with a good lender who can help to leverage your marketing expenses.

Zillow: What real estate timesaving tips do you have?
Mark: The best timesaving tip I have has to do with replying to leads. I have separate email signatures set up in Outlook that I can tweak slightly depending on the nature of the inquiry.

Novak’s aunt inspired him to go into real estate so it’s no wonder he loves creating memories with his family.

Zillow: What are a few mobile apps or other technology you can’t live without?
Mark: I love that my assistant can put together a tour report in Cloud CMA that I can copy and paste into my calendar. I simply touch the address it opens up in my maps mobile app and I’m guided to the next destination.

Zillow: When you’re not selling real estate, what do you enjoy in your free time?
Mark: I enjoy spending time with my family. I didn’t get to vacation much as a kid and I am so grateful that I get to experience so many wonderful memories with my beautiful wife and three amazing kids.
