Sears’ Manage My Home adds Zillow API
By: Drew Meyers, Zillow Business Development Specialist | March 6, 2008
We’re happy to announce another API partner implementation that went live last week — Manage My Home, brought to you by Sears. They have combined Zestimate values and comparable sales accessible via the Zillow API into the home value section of their Manage My Home product.
What is the goal of Manage My Home? Based on the product’s name — and their “about page,” Sears is taking aim at becoming the place to find information on basic repairs as well as big remodeling projects. In their own words:
It’s where you unload all your mental clutter about what you need and want to do around your home, so we can help you get it under control. It’s the place you come back to, time after time, to find out how to do, what to buy or who to call - for everything in your home.
Congrats to the Sears team for a great implementation and a pretty slick site! If you are interested in learning more about the Zillow API and how it can be utilized, take a look at the API Network page on Zillow, or drop by our developer forums to ask any questions you might have.

This is a great first step for Sears.
What does the future look like for this product?
Imagine if Sears sells you an appliance. The appliance is hooked up to the internet and communicates to sears maintenance.
The ‘manage my home’ becomes just that. A personalized hub for a home owner to see how their appliances are doing. When is the next time to change the filter? Is there monoxide in the house? Is the dryer working to 100% capacity? etc.

Sears has 2 major things going for it…Home Service’s…and their ownerhip of KCD IP LLC (Kenmore Craftsman DieHard Intellectual Property). These 2 things are the core of their future success and some may say the lifeline of the company. This was a smart move on their part.

Have Pro-Form 740CS treadmill. Motor controller went up in smoke. Got a new one from you. The instruction sheet says “press select mode”. My console has no “select mode” button. It says I need to go into “calibration mode.” The instructions show 10 different consoles, and how to get into calibration mode on those 10, but mine isn’t shown. How do I get into calibration mode - and what is “select mode?”
