As gas prices rise and going green becomes less of a fad and more of a lifestyle, homes that have high “walkability” are growing in demand.

Recently, New York was named America’s most walkable city by Seattle-based Walk Score, followed by San Francisco and Boston. A few newcomers were added to Walk Score’s annual top ten list such as Miami and Minneapolis.

Walk Score ranks addresses based on their proximity to nearby amenities such as grocery stores, cafes, schools, public transit and more. Walk Score also publishes a Transit Score, which measures how well a location is served by public transportation.

Tired of the commute? Using Walk Score and Zillow data, we rounded up 10 homes for sale with “Walker’s Paradise” and “Very Walkable” notations, which mean a Walk Score of 85 and above in the top 10 most walkable cities.
