USA Today reports that Sinbad owes $2.1 million to the state of California, according to the California Franchise Tax Board and the IRS filed a $416,870 tax lien against him in 2006 and there are more liens against him that date back to 1994.
Furthermore, the Detroit News is reporting that he also owes more than $8.15 million in delinquent federal taxes. According to federal court records, the U.S. Attorney General’s office wants Sinbad’s house sold to help pay the debt. An assistant U.S. attorney has asked a federal judge to determine that Sinbad Adkins is the true owner of the home (below) in Hidden Hills, California.
The title to the home is held by Sinbad’s brother, but the federal government claims that Sinbad was the one who paid the mortgage interest and property taxes. Sinbad declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy the day after the government filed the case.
