Nicolas Cage’s Bel Air Home Sells for $10.5 Million

Finally, Nicolas Cage’s former Bel-Air mansion (above) has sold. When the actor lost his English Tudor-style mansion to foreclosure earlier this year, it went on the auction block in April, but it failed to sell. Citibank then listed it for sale in June for $12,750,000, which generated interest. This week’s closing on the mansion is reportedly for $10.5 million to a “limited liability company,” which means another celebrity could have snatched it up. It was previously owned by entertainers Tom Jones and Dean Martin. [Source: LA Times]

Virtual Property Sells for $335,000 — in Real Money

This is not a joke: A player on the massive EntropiaPlanets virtual universe by the name of “Buzz Erik Lightyear” purchased a large, popular virtual space station, Crystal Palace, for 3,300,000 PED (Project Entropia Dollars), or $330,000 in REAL MONEY. According to next-gen.biz, “Entropia allows users to convert real world finances to a virtual currency, offering a fixed exchange rate for users who choose to cash-out and convert their virtual currency back. Entropia’s in-game properties, therefore, have a real cash value.” Here is the blow-by-blow auction drama for Crystal Palace as posted on Entropia. Crystal Palace features include many docking ports for spaceships, as well as the four bio-domes (photo of bio-dome above) which contain various species of aliens. Not sure of the number of bathrooms and bedrooms, but it looks like there is quite a view.
