Treemap Tells Story of Market Caps for 29 Firms

By: Diane Tuman, Zillow Content Manager | September 18, 2008

Having a hard time grokking the depth of loss in the current Wall Street crisis? Me too. Fortunately, a developer here sent me a treemap by the NY Times, which graphically represents the financial crisis. Mouse over any square to see the market capitalization for 29 financial firms on Oct. 9, 2007, as compared to Sept. 12, 2008, to see how the mighty have fallen. Gulp. Cool treemap, but not a very cool predicament this country is in.
