Yahoo! Real Estate Adds More “Z”
By: Mark Eamer, Director, Business Development | August 28, 2006
In July we announced the first phase of our partnership with Yahoo! Real Estate which exposes Zestimates and comparable homes to their broad audience. Today we are equally excited to announce the next two phases in our partnership with Yahoo! Real Estate; providing Zindex information on their redesigned real estate homepage and adding Zestimate charts to every one of their real estate classifieds property pages.
Integrating Zindex information onto the Yahoo! Real Estate homepage gives users an instant understanding of the current market value of a region they are interested in, including historical trends.
Putting Zestimate charts in hundreds of thousands of classifieds property pages in Yahoo! Real Estate is a great way to give home shoppers a perspective on how the home has appreciated over time. In addition, Yahoo! users have the ability to easily plot comparable sales directly on the property map.
Zillow’s overall partnership with Yahoo! Real Estate is now a complete valuation experience. Yahoo! users have access to free real estate valuations and it is trivially easy to for them to roll-up their sleeves, click through to Zillow.com and dig into the numbers.
All of this functionality will be available to the masses via our Open API launching this fall, but if you’d like to get in early, details are in this post.

Yahoo Revamps Real Estate Site
Yahoo unveiled its new Real Estate site today. The site now incorporates an interactive map displaying home price data filtered by location, price, and number of beds and baths. It draws its data from MLS listings, classified, foreclosures, and rentals…

What are you doing about your Zestimates that are thousands of dollars off…houses across the street from one another in my neighborhood are 100,000 difference according to your “Zestimates” for basically the same house. According to an article in Realty Times posted today…one homeowner has lost sales because your ZESTIMATE is 500,000 lower for his home than comparable homes have SOLD for in his new neighborhood!
Are you not accountable for these kinds of deficits?

ZILLOW.COM IS NOT USER FRIENDLY AND IS TOTALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO NAVIGATE! AFTER I POSTED MY CLIENT’S LISTING, THE “ZESTIMATE” WAS ADDED, AND IS TOTALLY INACCURATE! I HAVE SPENT HOURS (!) TRYING TO DELETE THE LISTING, AS THE OWNER IS FURIOUS WITH ME FOR HAVING POSTED IT ON ZILLOW! THE “INSTRUCTIONS” OFFERED BY ZILLOW ARE IMPOSSIBLE, AS THE CATAGORIES THEY SUGGEST YOU USE ARE SIMPLY NOT AVAILABLE. AND TO TOP IT OFF, ZILLOW DOESN’T OFFER ANY CONTACT METHOD (E-MAIL, PHONE, FAX) OTHER THAN AN ADDRESS IN SEATTLE! EVERY COMMUNICATION THEY SEND HAS A NOTICE “DO NOT REPLY TO THIS E-MAIL”, YET THEY DO NOT PROVIDE AN ALTERNATE. I WILL NEVER HAVE A GOOD WORD TO SAY ABOUT ZILLOW.COM!!!!

I checked a zesitmate in Moreno Valley,Ca.I noticed one of the properties on Via De La Real street, 5bd and 3 baths 2700 sqft. was priced far less than some of the smaller homes on the same block ,like a 4bd 2bath. Is it inaccurate? If so, can it be corrected? Zillow is one of the tools lenders and appraisers uses to help determine value.

Gibson-
Please read this thread — though I can’t tell for certain without the specific addresses, there are likely differing home facts leading to the differing zestimates. Zestimates are based off of public facts available, though we will soon be using owner-edited facts as an input if they are available.
I’d also encourage you to check out My Estimator.

“My Estimator” is actually what I’m speaking about. For example, check out 27730 Via De La Real, Moreno Valley, Ca. Then 27727 Via De La Real, Moreno valley, Ca. Identical floor plans. The first address is appox. $491,000 and the second appox. $377,000. How do you suppose it was factored?

Zillow is totally impossible. If you sign up, god help you. Despite what they say, you can’t remove your property from their listings or change anything. There must be some legal remedy for this.

m.e. - Please provide the address you are looking at and explain what changes you are trying to make so that we can help you with your inquiry.
