Our friend, Candy Evans — who’s in-the-know about everything in Dallas (and beyond), just wrote a funny post in her new Second Shelters Blog that New York Yankee slugger Mark Teixeira’s home in Westlake, TX is “…on the market when he’s off playing ball, off the market when he’s home.” Asking price: $4,550,000.

Since the Yankees got bumped out of the postseason by the Texas Rangers, that means Teixeira is “home,” but it looks like the home is still on the market and has been since June of this year. So maybe Teixeira is at his “other” home in Greenwich, CT to watch tonight’s opening game of the World Series and not holed up in his Vaquero Golf Club home soaking up the Texas sunshine.

You had to tempt me with two of my favorite things, didn’t you? Real estate and baseball…

That Westlake, TX home that Teixeira owns is gorgeous. Despite the market, I’m surprised someone has nabbed up that property.

What do you make of his on-again, off-again strategy? Is it a strategy at all? Wouldn’t he be better served to just leave it on the market? If there’s even an inkling of doubt around keeping the property, I think it’s worth listing.
