I have two children that attend this fantastic school. The teachers go above and beyond in creating meaningful learning experiences for my children. They also do an outstanding job in writing and receiving outside funding sources such as grants to ensure that my children have the best educational tools possible. The school climate at Sun City is that of a family where every student is valued and appreciated while at the same time high expectations are expected. I have been very satisfied with this school and would recommend it to anyone who is moving to Bossier parish.

My son has gone to Sun City since he was in Kindergarten he is now in 2nd grade and I couldn't have chosen a better school. They do so much for the kids and have an excellent program here. If you are coming to this area South Bossier City is where you want to live. Excellent schools!!

I couldn't ask for a better school for my children to attend. The staff and teachers are excellent and very welcomeing. We feel at home here and would have it no other way.

The school building itself is a bit dated and in need of repair. However the staff (right down the the custodians) are good people and the teachers seem to genuinely care about their students. So far the curriculum has been great and presented well. My child is right on par to advanced with his skill levels in all academic areas regardless of the fact that he has learning disabilities. His teachers have taken the time to make sure he understands the material being presented and can apply the knowledge. The only thing that has kept me from giving this school 5 stars is the condition of the building. The district needs to either provide a new building or spend some money remodeling the current one.

I moved from Bellaire Elementary (1 mile away) due to a move that put us in Sun City's district. When comparing the two I would go back to Bellaire in a heartbeat. But Sun City is a school i would recommend to someone looking to move to south bossier. The teachers are awesome (and that is an understatement). Their caring for the kids surpasses any that i had ever seen growing up in Caddo Parish. But i must say i am not thrilled with the principal and i really cant stand the vice principal. They are not very friendly nor welcoming. The vice principal needs to take some time to learn a few things about her own school as she doesnt seem to know anything about it (believe me this comes from a few encounters i had with her...) but once you get past them its a great school.

I am very impressed with the curriculum of the school. Though I think that the school should have more things including sports and let the students have more say in things.

My son attended this school from Kindergarten through 3rd grade. I enjoyed the staff and most of the teachers were wonderful. There are plenty of opportunities for those who enjoy volunteering or parent participation projects. Sun City not only recognizes the students with outstanding academic achievements they also recognize the students who show significant improvements in their grades. As well as those who excel in areas other than academics. I think it's important to recognize a child even if he/she is not the smartest in class. Most of my son's teachers were absolutely wonderful! They greet him when we see them out in public and that shows alot about character. The assistant principal was wonderful as well. As far as the principal if you're not a male it won't do much good to speak with him. may have to have your husbands' to speak with him if a problem arises.

I have a 1st grader here. I also went to Sun City. I Love it! We moved to South Bossier just to get our kids in this school! My son has ADHD and the staff has been very supportive! Staying involved is key at this school! Even if you work there are ways. Email me with any questions. I want to address some of the negative reviews. Last year Sun City had some problems. This occurred mainly after the Hurricane. It's across the hwy from a major shelter and kids were being bussed in from there. This caused major overflow and org. problems! I think they handled it pretty well condsidering! I hate that some kids did get overlooked. It was hard on everyone involved last year. This year has been much better! Discipline is very imp in this school!

My experience at Sun City has been wonderful. I believe it is a school with caring teachers administrators as well as support staff. The quality of the academic programs there are designed to challenge students and promote learning. My husband and I have been well pleased with Sun City ever since our daughter has been there; our son will be starting 8/2006. As an educator myself I would say that the extracurricular activities are great and parental involvement is excellent compared to many other schools in the Shreveport/Bossier area.

My second child is going through Sun City now. She has had wonderful teachers and feels very comfortable with the administration at this school. I have never had to worry about her feeling love and welcomed at Sun City. She is getting ready to start her last year at Sun City and I am sure will be very sad to leave.

The experience our family has had at Sun City is wonderful! The school is like one big family. I have a child going on to Elm Grove and he still misses Sun City. He loves to go back and visit the teachers staff and principal. Yes the principal. Mr. Meloncon and Ms. Holley have the best interest for all the children at the school. Currently I do still have a child at Sun City and the teachers do CARE about all children at Sun City. Parent involvement is great. Of course it is how you decide to get involve. The Sun City PTO is there to help you and welcomes anyone.

My oldest son has completed this school and moved on to Curtis it is a good school very friendly and professional staff. As far as parental involvment that depends on the parent you have to make time to include yourself in your child's education. I have another son who will begin 1st grade this fall and I am looking forward to another great year.

This school is only good if you have connections to the school. Otherwise your child is just a number. Children of teachers children who are neighbors of school staff and children of professionals get to be in small classes in the main building. This is really a school within a school. The principal has no respect for parents. He is unprofessional and irresponsible. There are some serious safety issues at this school but the prinicpal refuses to address them.

My child is attending kindergarten at Sun City. This school is terrible. For two days straight my child was left unattended in at the parking lot for after school pick up in which she ended up darting between two cars when she saw me in the parking lot. Upon adivsing the assistant principal my child was blamed for the situation. Upon contacting the school board my child's teacher still reprimanded my child because she failed to supervise her and the principals response was that my child was told to wait at the end of the awning until a teacher arrived. This school feels that five years olds are responsible enough to wait at a parking lot by themself and they are not to blame if she gets run over or kidnaped.

I was a student who actually attended this school four years ago. It was a great school. My teachers were Mrs. Champagne Mrs. Flatt Mrs. Lewis And Mrs. Mooney. Our principal was pretty good too. Our school had a great enviroment that we could really learn in. They didn't have that many extra curricular activities though. There was only sun city super stars. There was no activities for boys. I think they should add something. There was pretty good parent involvement so that made school fun. I enjoyed the halloween and spring carninvals and the book fair. I had a lot of friends and our principal was good. If you a reading this and go to sun city please tell my teachers they wree really good and I miss them. From Ashley Wright

While the scores at this school are high and most of the teachers are good their are a few down falls for instance my child had 3 different teachers while she was in 3rd grade last year. Which was a bit crazy because as a parent you had no idea of what was going on half the time and regardless of the reason it looks bad on administration on hiring teachers that were not quite sure of whether or not they wantd to be teachers or not and its not good for the students education or mental well being. It was hard and confusing for me as a parent so I'm sure that it wasn't easy for the students either.

Two of my children have attended Sun City Elem. the quality of education and support from teachers/staff is excellent. Overall Sun City is a terrific school.

My son is in 2nd grade and he has attended Sun City since Kindergarten. I absolutely love this school! It is one of the most parent oriented schools I've ever seen. You never feel uncomfortable and neither do the students. The teachers are all so very nice not to mention excellent teachers. I know several people who just wish their children could attend Sun City. The teachers are very dedicated and professional. I haven't met a teacher I didn't like. And the Principal is awesome. I love the fact that he believes in extracurricular activities and doesn't harp on standardised testing. And even with those beliefs Sun City is still one of the best schools in Bossier City LA.

My two older children have attended Sun City and my daughter is in kindergarten this year at Sun City. It is an excellent school. Mr. Melancon and Mrs. Holley are great leaders and they care about the children. These two leaders make great examples for the teachers.

The staff at this school are excellent from the principal to the janitorial staff. They are very involved and very concerned about the students. The parental involvement at this school is also tremendous. The community is wonderful and very supportive of the school and its endeavors.
