California Standards Test (CST)

In 2011-2012 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.

LaMariposa's quality & academics is sporadic at best. There are superb teachers there; however there are several that are below average at best. The principal's leadership style devotion to students and desire to improve academics is poor to below average. The several superb teachers carry the school's reputation.

We love this school. Kindergarden teachers are all excellent. We were pleased with my son's performance in 1st grade although there are mixed reviews on the first grade teachers. Some are amazing and some seem a little disorganized. We will be having a new principle this year but I loved how some of the teachers were in the interviewing process. Teachers all seem to work together to have a cohesive teaching program. We are very lucky to have our child at this school.

My husband and I absolutely love this school the staff and everything that it offers! I can't wait for my 4 year old to go there.

I have two children at La Mariposa through the School Choice Program; we were re-districted out but really wanted to stay. The school has been fantastic for both my kids. The Kindergarden starts everyone off of the right foot letting the kids learn how to cooperate and have fun in loving atmosphere. Although we have never gotten any teacher that we requested so far it has never mattered. Every single teacher has been wonderful and enthused and has ensured every child is treated with respect. The older kids are given help with reading if needed. The brand-new facilities are beautiful and clean and all support staff members are very friendly and kind to the kids and parents.

I feel so blessed to have my child attend La Mariposa! The teachers administration and families are all above and beyond. Quality programing is evident on all levels. There are new programs being piloted to ensure our children have bigger and better extracurricular experiences thanks to some dedicated parents and teachers. Parents play a very important roll in the day to day happenings at LMS. They are invited to share ideas help with the planning and implementation of activities and have a voice that is always heard and considered. This is a truly well rounded loving safe environment for children. Yea Mrs. Gonzalez Teachers & PTA.Great job!

This is an outstanding school with a very dedicated teaching staff and very involved parents. The school is constantly trying to approve upon its programs which is reflected in its increasing test scores.

Both my children have gone to La Mariposa. One in Kindergarten and one in 2nd grade now. We are relocating to another city and will be sad to leave La Mariposa. La Mariposa is a school where the children come first and parent involvement is encouraged. The teachers are highly skilled and work hard to bring out the best in each child. The principal is wonderful as she is very involved with the children in school activities. I am very pleased with the three years experience at La Mariposa and highly recommend La Mariposa to other families.
