Ohio Graduation Test (OGT)

In 2013-2014 Ohio used the Ohio Graduation Test (OGT) to test students in grade 10 in reading, writing, math, science and social studies. State averages displayed on public school profiles include public schools only. State averages displayed on private school profiles include private schools only. The OGT is a high school graduation requirement for public schools and chartered private schools. The OGT is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined by the state of Ohio. I'm a 6th grader at Canal Winchester Middle school. It's very hard to fit in. There has been several fights outside after school and in the bathroom. Everytime I try to learn in class it's always to goofy and playful. I am the only one taking it serious. I've been in Canal Winchester schools since 5th grade. In 5th grade it was the same. No one takes it serious and it's hard for me to learn. I'm signing up for summer school this summer and I'm never going back to Canal Winchester again...

Please do your research. The cliques exist. The extreme favoritism exist. Before moving into this district please do your research. I also have talked to many parents who share the same feelings and experiences and if your child do not fit in they will have a tough time being successful at this school. DO YOUR RESEARCH

Great school with good academic preparation for college good sports programs and facilities and great community to raise a family in.

I have 2 students in the system for over 10 years now overall not a bad school. Unfortunately there is extreme favortism and cliques sadly that is the staff and community. If your annual income does not reach a certain level no matter how good of a person you are or your children well then you just don't fit in I know I am not the only parent that feels this way because I have spoke to several at sporting events. The school has its issues of drugs and racism but doesn't deal with it or just don't know how to because they have to keep up the perfect 'IMAGE'. SHAME ON YOU.

I am a 9th grader at Canal Winchester High School there are positive and negative things about Canal. I've only been here for 5 years and it has been a great experience. I love the principal and staff they make you feel welcome and they're all here for the students and the students only. I've seen a lot of negative things to like fighting at our school. It's ridiculous. It needs to end and end now.

I have loved the education my children have received from Canal. I have an honor student and and a student with a learning disability. The programs offered to the two are outstanding. My switch from Private to Public schools was the best thing ever. I feel that the teaching staff helps keep our children motivated which in this day and age is a challenge. Keep up the good work!
