Mariner Middle has such a bad rap that is just not true. Maybe the school has had it's issues in the past but rest assure that is in the past. Excellent administration teaching staff and students. The communication between staff and parents is amazing!! This was not my 1st choice school in the lottery. When we got the call that a spot had opened up at Gulf Middle we choose to stay put. LOVE IT HERE!!!! Note parent involvement score is low. There are MANY opportunities for parents to get involved. Some events are packed some are not.

I want to thanks to Mariner Middle School staff because with their helps my daughter could regain confidence in herself and overcome her fears evoked in another school. In my opinion they really love their profession and they are truly trained to work with children in an age so hard. My daughter's health is better every day more she is very happy and her grades are excellent!. Thanks again but especially to the assistant principal Mr Munoz guidance Miss Soto and the principal of the school. I'm very grateful for your support you are doing a great work!!!

I recently moved down to the Cape Coral area from Georgia and I had to change schools. ( I came from a small private school with about 300 people in the entire school. And I knew I had to change schools and I started looking at the reviews of all the schools here. I put the schools in order by the ones that I wanted to go to. Mariner was my last choice. I was on the verge of tears when I found out I would be attending there. But I told my parents if I had to go there I wanted to go look at the campus. And that's what we did The Vice Principal met up with me and my mom and he showed us around. And that gave an amazing comfort. On the first day I was scared as any kid going to a new school would be but so far after a week and a half I love it there! By the third day I was there all of my teachers knew me by name and helped me get more comfortable knowing my situation! I got a call a few days ago from my top choice school and they said they had an opening. I went and looked at it but it wasn't Mariner it was a beautiful campus and I contemplated going there but I couldn't set my mind to leaving Mariner. I love it there and can't wait for the rest of the year.

Mariner Middle School has the best staff! It is evident that each teacher cares about the students and wants them to succeed. I am so proud that I work here. It is a great school!!!

Don't believe everything you read! When we first moved here I was very excited about "choosing" the school my daughter would attend. Because we enrolled late our choices were limited and we were assigned Mariner Middle School; our last choice of schools within the county. At first I was devastated ... near tears based on the reviews I read here. We had no choice and she began school in August after meeting with the school on a couple of occasions. During these meetings we were assured that the new administration had "cleaned up" the school and that Mariner was a wonderful school to attend. After the first week of school we received the call that she could attend our "first choice" school within the district. I left the decision to her and she made the decision to stay at Mariner. She said that she liked the school; felt comfortable there and was happy with the atmosphere she was in. Since the curriculum is the same throughout the school system there was absolutely no benefit in her relocating. As a parent the ability of this school to make my child feel comfortable and accepted after only one week of school is amazing. I would recommend it to everyone.

I had three students graduate from Mariner Middle. One son went from being a D student to an A student after transferring him to Mariner Middle. He said if I had teachers like this at my other school I would have done better. The teachers are very caring and dedicated to their work. They truly enjoy the students which is what makes a great teacher. My children are in high school and one has graduated and they still enjoy returning to the school to speak with their former teachers which says something in that the teachers have been there long term and will continue to stay there. All my children were encouraged to do their best and to push themselves beyond their perceived capabilities.

All three of my boys have gone to Mariner Middle School and it is a great school! My children have become more organized with the AVID program and with the IB program they have so many different areas of learning exposed to them. The staff is great to work with and contact for any questions. This school looks like something from 90120! The campus is so pretty and nicely landscaped. I am very proud to say my children are Mariner Tritons! What a great place for my kids to get their education and prepare them for high school. This place is a 5 star for me!

I am proud to work at Mariner Middle. We are a caring committed staff who create relevant and challenging curriculum. When I see former students heading to college they stop to thank me. They tell me that what I taught them about poetry and writing has prepared them for a level of questioning that far exceeds that of most of their current and former classmates and that makes my heart glad.

Hi I'm am a parent who has a son that is in the IB program and this is the only middle school in Cape Coral with an IB program. This school is great with a large amount of exploratory classes to choose from my son takes guitar and Spanish my son wanted a school with no uniform which I totally understand so this is also one of the reasons I chose Mariner. So definitely consider Mariner. My son is proud to be a Triton II and always will be one!

Mariner Middle School is a great school there used to be allot of fights but after the new administration MMS has gotten alot more strict. The teachers there are great but really the administration is ruining the school all the students are trying to transfer and leave but other than the new administration the school is GREAT

I am a student in Mariner Middle's Gifted program. I am now an eighth grader and have attended MMS since my sixth grade year. Their gifted program is excellent; i greatly enjoy my teachers and their classes. This year in science we have done so many experiments that have helped me understand the lessons more. I love doing experiments and I can guarantee that my friends at other schools do not get to do half of the experiments that I get to. I also love the programs they have afterschool. I am involved in the chess club odyssey of the mind national junior honor society chorus and drama. I also play sports. This year my volleyball and basketball teams did really well. I love going to Mariner Middle and I will be sad leaving at the end of this year.

Mariner Middle exceeds their reputation! They are an amazing school that focuses on student growth and learning. Last year my child attended Gulf Middle and that school was so heavily focused on passing the FCAT my child was drilled with FCAT only. Mariner Middle takes a much better approach by teacher all aspects of a subject not simply what will be tested on the state exam. While their school grade may be lower than our previous school (and I'm not sure why) Mariner Middle is by far the best middle school in this zone.

Mariner Middle is an excellent school with top notch programs. Last year during the 2008-2009 school year two of their teachers were named Teacher of the Year. This award recognizes them as the top teachers in the entire Lee County school district. While the school does have a higher average of ESE students they also have a fully developed Gifted program which my child is a part of. Their teachers invest their full time and energy into the school and I have never seen a more dedicated staff. I know my daughter is in safe hands every time she steps off the bus and enters their campus.

Mariner Middle is a great school for children! They are heavily involved in extra curricular activities and their teachers are very devoted to student learning. Both my children attend and they both enjoy their teachers and friends made here.

I'm a student in Mariner Girfted Program. Now i'm in sveenth grdae. Mariner has gotten ALOT better in the last few yaers... now there are less fights and i learn more. Mariner is fun. The music program as in band and guitar class is AMAZING and our teacher has gotten various awards. We are also the only school in Cape Coral that has TSA (tecnology student association) where we use modern technology and complete against other florida schools. Mariner has gotten better and the gisfted cklasses are great. Yes i agree that we could use a little more smart peopel and homewrok but att least we have some. i would day that 95 percent of teh studenst here love it.. and im one of them. Im in TSA Student Newpspaer and oddesey of the mind.. some of the few clubs there are here... there are also chess math and other clubsstudents..is

Mariner is agreat place for learning theres a great reward program for good behavior a nd grades. I personally enjoyed all three years at Mariner because there are so many amazing teachers who help out. Plus most of the classes are small so you get more attention

i'm a student at mariner . Honestly it has a lot of problems there are fights a lot they never get too serious tho because staff is there to break them up. It isn't very strict which in my opinion is a good thing. Most of the teachers are really good at their job but there are a couple this school could do without. Students will tear you apart if your not strong enough to stand up for yourself but it's the same in ever school becuse kids are always trying to prove how 'tough' they are especially around their friends. Above all Mariner is a good school not the best - not the worst. Your kid will probably like it there since everybody else does .

I'm a mariner middle student and all mariner students are considered Tritons. Mariner is a great school and i love it there. There would be no other place i would want to go to then mariner. The students there always like to have new students and just like any other school we have ups and downs but we always have a way to get around it. I don't really think there are steryo types either. we are all friends. Mariner middle is all a part of one family and one family only! D
