The faculty at Jefferson Elementary wouldn't be there if their hearts weren't in it. Most of the children have little academic support from home so the test scores are going to be lower. Many of the Jefferson students have Big Sisters who are faculty members at their school. It takes a lot more commitment a lot more work and a lot more love to step into a classroom where you know that the students within it rely almost entirely on you for their academic and often social education.

The teachers and principal are very impatient. There wau of dealing with issues is usually suspension. According to the school's handbook the school provides several progams to help children who are struggling in school. There is an after school tutoring program. My child has been on the waiting list for this program since August '07.
