Top notch school with highest performing students in Monterey County. There is a reason why all other schools including private schools within the region attempts to compare with Carmel Middle School. Awesome music program and supportive PTA/Music Booster. Involvement of parents bring out the best in our children and we can see this in the student population.

Best School Ever! We have moved a lot and been to a lot of different schools. The school is very welcoming has excellent communication offers a variety of extra curricular activities has great teachers and principal with terrific attitudes and fair policies and a curriculum that is engaging. I have a daughter in 6th grade and another in 8th. They both love school. This was the best move we've made and we're here to stay!!

Excellent School. Our daughter was just promoted from 8th grade to High School. She had an awesome year. The teachers are great they enjoy what they do and the kids really respond well to them. The school goes above and beyond! It's better than private and all public schools should be this good.

We moved here last year. I made sure to live in the Carmel Middle School District after reading the reviews on this website. I have been disappointed. Any children who come from outside schools are not given the same opportunities to take higher level classes. My child is bored. She has said several times that she is covering the same material this year as she did at her old school the year before. When I mentioned this to the teachers who seem to love what they do they say there is nothing they can do. She has straight A's however this is not much of an achievement here as over half of the school has straight A's. I am really concerned that when we move again that she will now be behind a year.

The hip conscious SMART teachers. Open transparent system...open to new learning. Curious about how each child learns. Work hard at building self esteem and success. Making sure kids are reaching their potential without losing their Souls! Most amazing public school one could imagine!

I came to Carmel middle in the middle of my 6th grade year. Absolutely amazing school! The teachers pay attention to every student and get to know their students personally. Whatever your interests there are people and teachers supporting you 100%! I was involved with drama chorus and band and found all three to be amazing programs with extremely encouraging teachers. The Language Arts program is outstanding as well as math. You will find that your child is very warmly welcomed and admitted to the school. There are plenty extra curricular activities to get into such as leadership art drama band (won many first place trophies) chorus (won 1st place in every category) woodshop and a variety of sports with minimal cut offs. A highly recommended school! I had the greatest years here!

We moved to Carmel in July and have had a fantastic experience here at Carmel Middle School. My child was able to play volleyball and basketball and the kids were incredibly friendly. My daughter was able to make friends very easily here. People came up to her specifically when they noticed she was new and invited her to sit with them and took her around to introduce her to others. She has gotten involved in a lot of activities both inside and outside of school and the support from the teachers and staff is outstanding. They work very hard to help kids fit in get involved in activities and become part of the school community. They have a mentoring program for 6th graders done by 8th graders to help with these issues. CMS also boasts a great music program and jazz band. Also a very involved parent community and PTA.

My child just transferred mid year from a private middle school and was warmly accepted by a very nice group of students. He has been invited to many social events outside of school and the friends he has made are terrific! The teachers have been awesome calling and emailing me regularly to make sure that our child has transitioned well. We came from an exceptional middle school where we use to live and we are thrilled to say that thus far we are more than impressed. The curriculum is based on addressing multiple intelligence and giving students a myriad of different ways to learn. The school culture seems to be interconnected to current events and the students actively work with their teachers to find solutions to real world issues like global warming environmental habitat protection and healthy lifestyle choices. As for others social comments our child has been warmly welcomed here!

Carmel Middle School is a very good school for almost all students. The teachers are excellent and the music drama and art programs are unbelievably good. Children who attend this school must be able to handle a little amount of teasing/peer pressure but for the most part problems with other students are very low.

Carmel Middle School is a fabulous school. Located in a beautiful country setting with fine families involved. Spectacular teachers and a safe and comfortable environment. A 10!

Academically strong. Good music arts and crafts and outdoor nature center. Strong PTA and fundraising although I felt this overshadowed other issues like bullying and social responsibility. School is great if your child can withstand social pressures and popularity issues. We withdrew our child because the social problems were too great.
