Michigan Educational Assessment Program (MEAP)

In 2012-2013 Michigan used the Michigan Educational Assessment Program (MEAP) to test students in grades 3 through 8 in math, reading and writing; in grades 5 and 8 in science; and in grades 6 and 9 in social studies. The MEAP is a standards-based test, which measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Michigan. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level. Beginning in the 2011-2012 school year, the Michigan State Board of Education implemented new definitions of what it means to be proficient on the MEAP test. The new standards for proficiency are higher than in previous years and the percent of students earning a proficient score is expected to be lower as a result of this change.

The teachers at this school go above and beyond the call of duty. They give up much of their time and consider these kids as their own.

My daughter is currently finishing up kindergarten with Mrs. Martin and has had a very positive experience. She is our first and only so far so this was a new experience for our family. Mrs. Martin has made us feel very welcome in her classroom at any time to help out and become a part of her classroom. The bussing system seems to be working well for the school district and has a good communication system when children miss their stop. Kelsey is in the top of her class and has been challenged with extra credit activities as needed to keep her interested and excited. Quality academic programs and extracurricular acitvities are readily available. The children are even exposed to music art and computers twice daily as a special acitivity in their all day kindergarten program which is readily available to as many families who would like it for their child.
