This is our 5th year here and we are just estatic with the top notch education our child has been getting. As the years have gone by we have seen many students leave as it is just too challenging of an environment and this year we had many students come from other private schools who want a more challenging curriculum with a more intimate environment. The school is definately geared toward the accelerated/gifted cihld. I love all the specials my child receives and so thrilled he could read music by the age of 8 from music theory studies. With the highest diversity percentage of all the private schools (over 30 % I believe) he understands all cultures and embraces it. Small classes kind and caring teachers and adminstrators is what we have experienced here. When everyone at the school from administrators to teachers that don't even teach your childs grade know your child's really makes them feel at home and comfortable. I had high expectations from this school from the start and they have met every one of them. I can only hope when it's time to go to high school we will find a school that has been as great as Prep has been.

We were so excited for our son to attend this school and it turned out to be a huge disappointment from the first day. Very poor communication and very disorganized!

This our seventh year at Prep and our children have had a wonderful experience. The change to non profit has been a great move for the school and several changes have improved the quality of experience even more. Our children have become independent learners in a safe friendly environment with dedicated and caring teachers. The new head of middle school has been a fantastic addition and has been a huge hit with children and parents alike. Our children love coming to school and enjoy learning. What more could a parent want?

I have put 4 children through the school and have one that is still there. My son's year had 5 kids in the class that became merit scholars out of an 18 student graduating class. The 'big three" claimed the success but Prep did the dirty work. My next 2 carry above a 3.7 at major universities and my fourth is top 5 in her class in high school. I have never seen an environment with less bullying or social pressure than Prep; that extends right through middle school. The parents are a diverse eclectic bunch that genuinely like and support each other.

This is our 4th year at CPS. We toured several schools and felt most at home at CPS - as did our kids. I find the negative reviews a little puzzling. I've only experienced professionalism and the type of attention you'd expect in a smaller school. We plan on staying through 8th - as this is the highest grade at Prep. As far as "letting anyone in" regardless of level of learning ability - the tough curriculum will weed out anyone who can't keep up. This school has proven year to year that it's everything we had hoped for. We're proud to be part of the Prep family.

I feel that this school is not the most safe environment for my child. My child was bullied and he reported to the administrator. However there was little if no response! Also there are not many kids at this school that are similar to my child.

The school has a history of high turnover rate of families leaving which means they are constantly having to replenish with new students. This however creates problems within school when there isn't a high priority of selectivity of the students being admitted. The school has to survive financially and the student population isn't any different than public school. The kids swear amongst each other and the teachers aren't aware of what really is going on with the students. The administrators and the some of the teachers are not professional in how they handle conflict. The teachers do not email back in a timely manner. It takes 4-5 days to get a response back. One teacher didn't email back all year and the administrator was made aware of this yet nothing has changed.

This is our fourth year at Charlotte Prep. The quality of this academic environment is only surpassed by the dedication of their faculty and staff. The Head of the Lower School knows each child and family personally. I am yet to meet a teacher who has not treated my children as one of their own. They have looked for opportunities to advance our children not only academically but also socially culturally and emotionally. The learning environment seems to meet each child where they are and advance them more quickly than we ever thought possible. The parent community is one of true character and quality where the motto of "it takes a village" is employed daily. We have seen so many positive enhancements to the school over the last few years and we look forward to even more physical improvements in the years to come. There are many wonderful private school options in Charlotte this one is for those whose first passion is learning!

Charlotte Prep is a wonderful community of teachers administrators and families. The school's size ensures that everyone from teachers to the Head of School knows your child by name and they also know you the parent when you walk in as well. All of the children receive individualized attention because of the small class sizes. I have another child and one of the Big 3 Private Schools and upon comparing the curriculums I can definitely say that Charlotte Prep's is much more technologically and academically advanced. All of the kids do very well and are challenged in just the right way to generate work at their full potential without being stressful or over bearing. The school is also implementing their STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) which is preparing these kids for the world they will enter. I have heard from people at all of the Big 3 Private schools and in every case it is reported that Charlotte Prep kids that enter in high school are more well prepared and more confident than the kids that entered in Kindergarten.

Our Family has been at Prep for 3 years beginning with the Montessori program and prior to it being not for profit As a family we love the small class size campus teachers and administrators- the education has far supersede our expectations. Our daughter is excited for school not just because of her friends but that she loves to learn and the teachers have made it a warm nurturing learning environment! The change not to profit has only added resources and opportunities! Just this weekend our daughter said " I never want to leave Charlotte Prep-I want to attend all the grades possible there until there are no more grades to attend" That for me was all I needed to know that we had made the right decision for our family!

I like that our school is small - so that teachers and administrators know students - by name skills and passions. I also like that our school is K-8 - students are not exposed to high school attitudes and style of dress.

Be careful with the lure of small total class size when considering an Independent School for your family. Although intimate settings can be appealing from the outside a lack of options for friendships can become problematic when one or two students (or their families) decide that your child is "out." There's minimal escape from social concerns and little room for advocacy when the community is small.

I send my child here for the Montessori program! For the expensive tuition you pay there are way too many kids for the class! The thing that I like the best about this school are other parents! They do have great families here! Not so impressed with school itself. I am not sure if it is worth the tuition! Also the school constantly pressure you for money which gets really stressful unless you are mega rich!

Charlotte Prep is an amazing environment! It's small class sizes challenging academics and electives caring staff and supportive parents provide students with a top educational experience. Our teachers are progressive thinkers and cater to the needs of the individual student challenging them to apply classroom knowledge to solving everyday problems. Music Sports Art and performance opportunities are abundant and parents are extremely supportive and involved in campus activities. I am proud to be a member of the Charlotte Prep family and love the opportunity to teach such talented energetic students!

This is our first year at Prep. My son got into the other big 3 and it was absolutely the right decision to send him to Prep. I love the small school feel and after 2 days the headmaster and all the teachers in the school knew his name and everything about him. The academics are amazing and the class size (he has 15) is small and my child gets so much attention. I love the k-8 model and how the little ones bond with the big kids. All the older kids know his name. It's such a caring environment. My child is gifted and I finally found a school where he can go as far as he wants academically.

Love love LOVE Charlotte Prep! Both of my kids could not wait for school to start this year. What more can a parent ask for? Curriculum is challenging but interactive and always fun. My kids are happy so I am happy.

LOVE CPS! Nurturing small academically challenging environment. Teachers are AMAZING! They support our kids with the same values we teach at home attend the students' b-ball tennis and soccer games and make the kids feel loved and build confidence. Have 2 in MS and elementary... the MS is the best in not in a rush to grow up during this awkward stage. Due to the economy we had to try a different school for 2 years and my kids' love of learning subsided and their confidence diminished. Couldn't wait to get back to CPS. Love PREP!
