Burley is crowded. How can a teacher meet the needs of the individual child when 30 children are packed into a classroom? I have 3 children there and I've seen the quality of the education decline as the school's numbers grow. My children are almost done but I would not encourage any one to choose this school. The teachers are fabulous and they care but they are being put into demanding situations that do not breed success.

I can't possibly say enough good things about this school. The teachers are amazing world-class educators. The administration is open engaged and just plain phenomenal. However most importantly the COMMUNITY that is Burley is second to none. After eight years in the school with another several to go we feel nothing but gratitude. We are glad that we are and will continue to be part of the Burley Family for a very long time.

After six years at Burley we finally said enough is enough and withdrew our oldest child. Of course Burley has many great things going for it. Like their stellar ISAT scores. Unfortunately for about four weeks prior to the test the students are studying so much test material that there isn't enough time to study cirriculum consequently grades fall during this period. I would like to say more but then I might violate the rating policy and not get this message posted. I'm not saying that you shouldn't send your child to Burley. Just be careful not to step on anyone's toes. They have long memories.

Our kids love Burley and we do too. Top notch teachers great administrators and lots of smart caring parents that really participate and help the school not only meet but exceed goals. The camaraderie of the kids across of all ages is unusual and special.

The curriculum and staff are top notch. Burley teaches kids to think for themselves to formulate questions rather than memorize answers. They believe in inquiry inclusion and community.

This is a school where children LOVE to go and are proud to be at! The teachers administration and parents are involved and encouraging to the students. Most important there is a family atmosphere where children feel secure and cared about. Burley is a warm innovative school that inspires a child to achieve their personal best.

My son is in 3rd grade and loves his school. Their focus is on literature and reading. The teachers are great and the parents are very involved. The diversity of the staff and student body reflects the area and city.

Ms. Randall and Ms. Perez are really a wonderful team. They are Pre-K teachers at Burley. Parent involvement is really outstanding and that is a winning combination for education. My son always wants to be there and that's always a good sign.

I have to say that I am very happy with the preschool at Burley. At first I wasn't sure how I felt because my child needed to get used to being in a more focused atmosphere. However there was good communication with the teacher. We love that parent involvement is encouraged! There is a wonderful mix of free play one on one small group and large group work. I believe this class is truly prepping my child for kindergarten without forgetting that this is a group of 4 and 5 year olds that still need nurtured.

We have a first grader at Burley and couldn't be happier. In hindsight I can't believe we debated if CPS was the right option for our family. A fabulous and professional administrative staff fun and talented teachers and an incredible parent community makes this school top-rate.

Every single day we thank the heavens above for Burley School. It is a shining example of what is possible at a Chicago Public School. The excellence and commitment of the teachers there is beyond compare and the administration is cheerful positive and supportive. People pay thousands of dollars for educations that are of lesser quality than you find here. A stupdendous experience; I only wish we had found it sooner. Hooray for Burley!!!

The staff is very unproffessional rude and unorganied. Great you got the scores up!! Personality goes along way.

I want to compliment Principal Kent for her excellent hands-on leadership. Principal Kent is everywhere in the school! Before school and after I see Principal Kent conferring with parents. And Principal Kent handles every matter with great wisdom and attention to the child's best needs. She is a world-class principal.

I have a child in second grade at Burley and he is flourishing with every year he is there (started in the tuition based pre-k program). The teachers are wonderful and really take the time to work with our kids to make sure they understand and enjoy what they learn. Burley offers after school activities (chess club art etc.) which keep the kids busy. Music and art are also a part of Burley's curriculum. Parents are very hands on with everything from school yard monitoring in the morning to helping with fundraising events. Burley is truly one of the best schools in Chicago.

Our son is in kindergarten at Burley and we have been very pleased so far. The school has great teachers one of whom was just awarded a Golden Apple and a variety of after school activities. Parents are really involved at Burley and raise money every year to continue a music program for the kids. Burley focuses a lot on literature and I have been impressed with the way they weave reading into the cirriculum.

Burley is one of Chicago Public School's best kept secrets. They have great test scores and a dedicated staff. There is a lot of parental involvement.
