south shore fine arts academy is a wonderful school my boys love going to school (how many of us can truly say that) they enjoy the challenge they also understand if they have an problems or worries they will be addressed not just by me but also by any staff member it says a lot about a school when all the personalities mesh together staff parents students there will be a happy stress free solution at the end most important your child feels safe and when your kids feel good it rolls on to you none of us are perfect but when we're working together for the betterment of our children it all pulls together like cake

Whomever wrote the post in January 2014 has a totally inaccurate account of how great this school is. Yes SSFA was given the entire building because of how poorly Fermi was performing. They inherited 6-8 grade students that were performing below their grade level. SSFA has not graduated it's first class yet. As far as the comments about the staff and one of the most heralded principals in CPS you couldn't be more wrong. Mrs. Mister could run a magnet or gifted school easily. Check her pedigree. Yet she's trying to make a difference where it matters most. She has instilled rules and guidelines for students and "parents" to be held accountable. Stop blaming staff and teachers for doing what you should be doing at home. Great school with true educators lead by a brilliant principal who's patient and has the kids best interest first.

School needs to be closed or new staff needs to be in place staff from lunch ladies on up talk and treat the children horrible. School test scores fall each year. The principle is oblivious to whats going on within her school worst decision the board of whomever could've made by giving her the whole building. This staff of teachers about 75% have no real care in the kids academic achievement safety or overall well being. Parents pay attention to whats really going on behind the walls of your childs school.

South Shore Fine Arts is a school creatively building a culture where students from a closed CPS school who joined the school this year and students who have been at this school are part of the same community. SSFA is doing a wonderful job supporting community and cultural values for members of the school and also trying to provide for the individual and group needs of their students and staff with limited resources. Their principal Melissa Meister is enthusiastic focused and open. She is creating a strong team and part of a strong team at SSFA.
