    I have two children whom attend this school a first grader and a kindergartner. This school is absolutely ridiculous. They make you feel as if you are unwanted and unwelcome to participate in your child's education. I have had nothing but problems with this school from day one. I receive calls everyday stating one or more buses are late or broke down. The teachers are not in the classroom half the times and instead of finding proper substitute teachers for the kid the classes of the absent teachers are split in half and one half goes to another teachers room and the other half goes to another teachers room. The are inadequately staffed and funded. A school run such as this one needs to be shut down and the kids relocated to a facility that has the time and resources to teach our care for our children. For a school that has 4 head deans you would think it would be properly staffed and funded. The school looks nice from the outside but looks can be deceiving.

    The teacher feedback needs improvement and many of the teachers don't use modern teaching methods. If you ask them for information there is no adequate response in most cases (6th grade). The teachers are not held accountable to a high standard of teaching or to improving the students ability.

    To much bullying and the child that is being bullied is punished as much as the bully. The administration lacks coping skills.

    Aweful School and aweful Office Assistants No Customer Service at all ! The "Addistant Principals" are two people that are not good with people..never return calls

    My daughters' teacher was awful. She was a young teacher who had no personality and treated the children like teenagers. She would tell the children to "tell your parents" ie* "whoevers parents smoke tell them that they are making the other students book bags smell like smoke" or " if you have pink eye tell your parents to leave you at home" to me this is something you tell the parents not 5-6 year olds. I once went in for a meeting with her and a child came in from PE or some where and said he accidently peed his pants. She took a deep breath rolled her eyes and told him to hurry up and change. There was no compassion. My daughter was always afraid to tell her if she had a problem or if she wasn't feeling good. One month before school ended I made an appointment with the assistant principal. I told him I have not contacted him with all my issues because this was my first child in school and I was afraid the teacher would take it out on my daughter and she was already have a difficult time. The NEXT DAY the teacher calls me DURING class questioning me about my daughter. Come to find out she DEMANDED an answer from my daughter on why she was having a hard time reading?

    My child is in Kindergarten and I have two more and we will not be back next year. The staff is rude and have no idea what they are talking about. Their safety for the kids is a joke. Parents can't go in but anyone can pick up my child from the car riders. All they need to know is the childs name.. I was the only one who picked up my daughter for 7 months. One day I had another person pick her up in another car and there was no problem. Plus they rush the parents in and out of there like cattle. They have a bad attitude and have no concept of safety. You do not rush small children in the car and tell the driver to hurry up and leave. The school is very unprofessional and never takes responsibility for when they are in the wrong. I wouldn't send my worse enemies children here.

    A very disappointing school. No supervision of vehicles or drivers led my pregnant wife's car to be hit by a crazy driver all in the name of trying to navigate the unorganized cattle run of picking up your kid from school. The teachers particularly the younger ones have a look of scorn and cannot muster a smile or any enthusiasm heaven knows how they teach the kids. In one year we did not receive a single chance to talk to our teacher despite numerous requests. The school also lost our daughter twice - one from being placed on the wrong bus with nobody (including the teachers or transport company) tracking where she was and another time where despite her not being a bus rider she was thrown in and left to sit outside her home for two hours as I called the police and her daycare to report her missing. They took no responsibility on either occasion and I was met with an attitude when I asked what had happened. This amazing new principal even thought it was funny and blamed the child (6 years old). I hate to say it but it appears a child will need to come to harm before they decide to wake up and take care of these kids the way they need them to.

    I couldn't wait to get my kids OUT of there!!!!! Teachers were given High grades to students who deserved D"s and F's. I know from personal experience. Boy I can tell you so much you would think I was making this up. They want to look good since it is such a new school and the school in Beautiful. The administration should be ashamed of their self for allowing this to go on. I am sure that is why the teachers give in. I got the school board involved and hired an IEP Advocate. We requested an IEE the board approved my request and my child was then retested outside the school by professionals at the cost of the School board. Their findings were exactly what we were trying to tell them. PLEASE don't second guess yourself get an IEP Advocate and good luck...A concerned parent.

    My child kindergarten this year. Needless to say the schools staff have no idea what is going on and they change what they say a million times and her teacher doesn't have the best personality nor is she professional. Thank god we haven't found a house to buy bc we are NOT sending my child back to this school. A teacher who gives a child negitive feed back to the mother is unexceptable.

    Not enough communication from teachers to parents. My child was hurt at school thanks to another kid who pushed her and nothing was done teacher didn't let me know. Also no parent involvement activities at all.

    We just moved to the area a year ago. This happened to be the school we were zoned for. Needless to say we will not be going back to this school. Bullying is a huge problem my children come home talking about how disruptive certain kids are and how rude they are to the teacher. We suddenly got a new principal upon returning from Christmas break and he has dne a wonderful job of cleaning the mess he came into. The saddest thing is the children learn this behavior from home and the parents don't care. I also don't like the fact that so much time is taken for children who do not speak English. This school is a Title 1 school so do your research before coming to school zone. I have regretted moving to this area this entire year only because of the school. The teachers have their hands tied and full they are doing the best they can with what they have.

    First day in school for my son. Every thing went well. The staff and the teachers were nice. The cafeteria is clean . I am happy so far.

    After finishing only its second year you have to understand there will be "growing pains." Do they offer a huge variety of electives or a stong arts program? No but I am confident that they will eventually. Things like that take time. Are they 100% consistent with enforcing dress code? No but with everything else that admin must focus on in its 2nd year I don't blame them. It is a K thru 8 school. That in itself is a challenge to juggle curriculum and discipline for such a wide variety of ages. But they do their best to create a sense of family where the little ones feel safe and the older ones feel like role models. The teachers are very dedicated and excellent at what they do (which is why the school earned an A this year!). They truly care about the students. My son finished his kindergarten year this past year in the Dual Language program and he amazes me with all they has retained! The technology available at this school is one of a kind! Give Westside a chance. And remember it takes a village not just a school.

    my daughter has been going to this since it open ...5th last year sixth this year ...whenever i ask her teacher to help her with something ...the teacher doesn't help her ..my daughter was out sick ...she went back to school and turned in all her work that she missed ..this teacher had the nerve to tell my daughter who spent two weeks on make up work that because my daughter didn't rememeber to put a page number on one page of work she wouldn't take it...or gave my daughter credit for the work she did ...now i ask you what kind of teacher is this??????

    Westside is a great school I love it. They have excellent teachers that love doing there job. The srong principals and there school leardership could bring them to the top! And also there challenging academic programs are great I love westside.

    i dont know what this people are talking about because this school is wonderful. The technology that they have access to is incredible and optimizes there learn and discoveries. Its only been open for a year and need to get the hang of things I understand that that takes time and with the stuff they have to offer my children I am willing to wait for the school to get the hang of it.Also as for the communication I think they have great communication the band teacher calls me every 2 days with an update on my child. You just have to ask!

    my daughter attends this school and I would have to agree with other people who have voiced there opinion that there is not enough communication from the teachers. They do not answer emails and are very reluctant to talk or give any insight as to how your child is progressing. I was told by one teacher when I received my daughters report card and seen that she had a D that she has not been paying attention and has been distracted by her choice of friends. I asked how long this had been a problem she told me for the last 7 weeks at least. So again where is the communication the impression I get when I have to come down to the school due to lack of response is that they are just not bothered and would rather you left them alone. The rules and codes need to be enforced!!

    upset over a letter sent home with my daughter in kindergarten. The letter references the state attorney general's office an how westside k through 8 works closely to identify potential problems with truency. After 5 unexcused absenses the 'authorities' will be notified. At the start of the school year a stomach virus went around & both my children got very sick.. vomiting fever diarrhea. My one child actually ended up in the hospital with a doctors note told to stay out for the rest of the week. The following week both children woke up complaining of stomach pain & they both had congestion runny nose and a nasty cough so thinking we were being wise we chose to keep them home. The letter 'threatens' & implies that as a parent we cannot make the determination. Therefore I have since decided to send my sick children to school regardless. Very annoyed!
