The SOL tests are standards-based, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Virginia. Colonial Beach High School has slowly tarnished year after year. Although the school has very many qualities it lacks in many ways. The new principal is horrid and doesn't have the school in control. Behavior problems are outstanding and the punishments are as usual lacking. The sports teams used to be what carried the school but with the threat of no longer having athletics the students have become apathetic of their school work and test scores. Honestly I don't blame them. The community doesn't want the school here any longer so why should they care? The school board is corrupt and needs some serious reevaluating. Along with most of the superiors of the school. I wouldn't recommend this school to any student or parent. The system needs to be rebuilt from the ground up if they want to progress.

Colonial Beach is the perfect school for someone who is used to small environments. With less than 250 students enrolled it is the best place to make lots of friends. I know practically everyone here! We are very big on sports especially guy sports. I would like to see more support for the girls but we do ok. We may not be the best education wise but we're improving. There aren't very many discipline problems and the staff for the most part is very helpful. We have PLENTY of afterschool clubs such as NHS Scholastic Bowl Drama FBLA and much much more.

I've lived here for 5 years now and at the time of this review I am in the 9th grade. I've been going to this school district for 4 1/2 years now and would say that its a pretty good school.

this school is great it isnt too big it is just right and that makes it easy to make friends. The basketball team is wonderful even though they lost one of their best players Olivia Setliff. Their softball and baseball team is wonderful also as well as football volleyball and the coaches. The school is wonderful anyone who goes there would love it.
