Whetstone High School

From what I'm reading the school's administration has been fudging the enrollment and attendance figures.

Both of my sons graduated from Whetstone and are now successful college students. I certainly agree with the other parent comment solid school outstanding leadership and staff in a great community. One of Columbus' best!

Most of the students that we see have the problems with behavior and language

My daughter graduated in 2008 from Whetstone. I am proud to say that Whetstone had the largest class in 25 years for the school and the largest class for Columbus city schools in 16 years. They must be doing something right. I now have a fresheman at whetstone. He is doing well so far and is actually excited. He is normally a very shy kid but is happy to be a part of the whetstone class of 2012

Solid school. Outstanding staff and leadership in a great community.

I'm a student entering my sophmore year at Whetstone I have to say that I love this school! Our orchestra got went to a competition and recieved a one which is the highest score we could get. I love the teachers the students the learning pace the environment...everything. I would never change schools for anything.

I am currently a student attending Whetstone High School. I love the atmosphere at this school. Even though there are unfocused students there I am very dedicated to my school career. The music program is excellent. I am a member of the marching band concert band softball team and DECA. All the pupils in these groups are gifted in every single way. The teachers are dedicated and they are definitely worth the time at school. The administrators keep the school very safe and I do not feel in any danger at all.

The education I received from the college prep classes was great and the teachers truly do care about their students. I did cheerleading DECA Newspaper and our debate team JSA Braves and feel like these programs were all great. Many of my classmates continued onto OSU and other upper-level colleges with scholarships. I never once worried about my safety at Whetstone and although I loved Mrs. Norman since we have the new principal things are really improving. Whetstone has a good reputation and continues to grow as a better school.

I have a son attending Whetstone. He is now a junior. He is involved in athletics the band and other activities. This school has made dramatic changes over the past two years. The new principal has brought about dramatic changes. I was ready to move my son from Whetstone two years ago but I decided to give the new principal a chance and see what would happen. The school today is safe and improving the academic challenges for students. My son has homework now and he is challenged in his work. He tells me he feels safe and that is a big difference from what he use to tell me two yers ago. As a parent I some really good things happening. We are staying at Whetstone and I will be sending my daughter next year.

I am a student at Whetstone High School! I love it and I know that it is a great school. I am very interested in my academics and I feel that I would not change my school for the world. I am also involved Sports at Whetstone High school and I love their sports program. When I am at Whetstone I feel safe. I believe it is important to know how the students feel about Whetstone because we are the ones that attend the school! We know first hand! I love the teachers and I love the Staff. I love the band and Love the hall marches! I would not change anything for the world!

As a former student; please don't send your children to Whetstone! I attended Grandview Heights 'til 9th grade and then attended Whetstone. Stuff they were doing in 10th grade I had learned in 8th. There were fights literally every other day the lunch lines were so long I was left with 5 minutes to eat sometimes I had to get a late pass so that I could eat! The teachers were horrible! Theatre consisted of watching a movie and writing a review. The bus was so crowded kids were sitting on the floor.

I am the parent of a graduating senior who will enter the Honors Program at OSU in the fall (as have many Whetstone graduates in previous years). Whetstone has been a wonderful experience - dedicated teachers a high level of parent involvement and a wonderful group of students who really care about their school. Our sports teams are not stellar but that does not deter students - we have a high level of athlete participation and spectators. School spirit is alive and well. There is an awesome band and a DECA program boasting participation in Nationals year after year. There is no such thing as a perfect school but Whetstone truly is near the top. Check it out!

I am a parent of two children that go to Whetstone High School. They have a lot of fun but I question the quality of their education. Their classes are full of disrespectful kids who don't want to be there. The teachers spend far too much time redirecting kids who are old enough to know better. The building was dirty and littered. We should not wonder why kids are like they are today.The expectations of the students in this building are far from appropriate. There is new leadership this year but it will take a lot of time to change the mess it's in.

My son is just starting here at Whetstone and I just have to say that what I've seen so far has been wonderful during our enrollment we spoke with a councelor and the principal which made us feel very important for her to sit down with us and explain how the process would be since he is coming in with an IEP. I appreciated the effort they took in getting the meeting set up quickly to get him started sooner than later. Seems like we landed at a really good school especially from reviewing the stats online.

My son is a freshman this year at Whetstone High School. We are half-way into the year and I am very pleased with his progress and the school thus far. He is doing very well academically A's and B's and is involved in a wonderful extra-curricular activity. He has joined the Robotics team. As he is only a freshman he is doing a lot of learning and watching not too much hands on yet. But he wants to continue with this program throughout his high school career. I was also informed by his robotics teacher that several students who have participated in the program in the past received a 'full ride' to one of our local colleges to study engineering. This is what my son wants to study! When we planned to move to Columbus we choose an address that would put us in this district.

this school as alot of sports teams here and alsome coachs to. Even if our school is old its a good place to be. so if you don't like West then go to Whetstone High school.
