Gateway/End-of-Course (GT/EOC)

In 2011-2012 Tennessee used the Gateway/End-of-Course (EOC) exams to test high school students in language arts, math, science and social studies upon completion of relevant courses. This year they introduced two new exams in algebra II and English III. Students must pass the algebra I, English II and biology I tests, called the Gateway exams, in order to graduate. The Gateway/EOC exams are standards-based tests that measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined by the state of Tennessee. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level.

They don't acknowledge their new students and they don't ask them if they come from a different state that did different things. They just judge you based on if they think you went there last year.

My daughter graduated in 2013 with honors top 10% of class of 500. Self-motivated and made her own way at GHS. No real college guidance from school but earned full scholarship at top tier school. Faculty seems to operate on survival mode. Many privileges associated with the high school experience are lost because students don't know how to act.

This school is what you make of it. My daughter worked hard and received a great education and 24 hours college credit. The teachers were very hard working caring people and the staff members were very helpful.

Germantown High School located in Germantown Tn is NOT A FAIRY TAIL School!! When It Comes To Academics Germantown Is a Good School but many teachers and stafff place Germantown at risk for being the best school. Today my child was in the office sick and needed to call home. She asked the Lady in the office if she could have an excuse note back to class and the lady told my daughter "No Leave me alone. I am on my Lunch Break". I found that comment very disrespectful and Rude!!!! There hast been many cases similar to ehat happened to my daughter. I am very disappointed in Germantown High School !!

This school has something for every student. The IB program is great for the very academic. The fine arts drama and production/TV station are all superb. Solid vocational classes available as well. Great sports teams and band too. The healthy diversity of the students keeps GHS from being too "cliquish". The overall atmosphere is vibrant but relaxed and content. All schools have issues but our kids feel safe and happy here. We are very pleased with our children's experience.

The IB program is rigorous & challenging & the teachers are inspired dedicated & hard-working. My son is pleased that he made the switch from private to this public school. The fine arts program is exceptional. GHS has great school spirit excellent teachers strong leadership and excellent academics.

This is an excellent school. Not only has a great program (International Baccalaureate) but also has a great band. The band director Mr. Byrd is strict to his students. I feel that my child will have a good learning experience there. They care more about students learning than money. All band members including freshmen are audited to the band and they charge very reasonable band fees. Germantown High School is great! It is getting better and better...

Germantown High is a great school! It is getting better since Southwind High School was built in 2007. The school office stuffs are very friendly and helpful. Principal Mr. McIntyre is very involved in student activities. It offers International Baccalaureate (IB) program that best prepares students for the college. I would get it 10/10!

It's a wonderful school! It's really clique-free the academies is wonderful and our extracurricular programs are amazing. We're all just part of the same group and the school environment is great. Also walking around an open campus is awesome!

I give Germantown High a 10 ! The administration is wonderful always open to the parents. The teachers are the best around. They care and go the extra mile for the students.

I have three children that have attended Germantown High School. It is an excellent school with wonderful Administration/Teachers/Counselors. My oldest son graduated in 2004 and went on to graduate from college Magna Cum Laude. I feel that his teachers at GHS prepared him to achieve that goal. He has now decided to attend Graduate school and become a teacher. My daughter graduated in 2007 and again I feel that her experience at GHS prepared her for college. My youngest daughter is currently a sophomore at GHS and is enrolled in the IB program. Every thing about GHS has been a positive experience for my children.

The environemnt is very friendly and open amongst the students. I myself am in the IB program and it is quite rigorous. The teachers for the most part are able to teach in either a traditional or hands-on way. The Fine Arts department is amazing and helpin to prepare students for their life after high school whether it be in the arts or not. There are very few fights and the surrounding community is always reaching a helping hand towards the school.

Great IB program and very good Honors programs for students.

I am about to graduate in May of 2009 and all four years that I spent at Germantown high have been the best. The school offers so many programs in which us students can excel and tons of extracuricular activites (sports and clubs). The school allows the students to make thier own decisions when it comes to picking class schedules. The school is also set up like a college campus so students can be prepared for college. The teachers are excellent and are really passionate about the subjects they teach. Overall Germantown High is a great school that prepares students for college and vocational schools.
