What I Like About My House
Kristin Acker — Friends have dubbed our new home "tree house" as it sits amongst the trees above Lake Washington. First thing every morning, I pad over to the window to see what direction the wind is blowing across the lake. During meals, we watch the bald eagles, finches and other birds soar and swoop. There also is a continuous parade of seaplanes, ski boats, and rowing shells. At night, it is quiet as I fall asleep with the windows open. I love that we're 98 steps away from the Burke Gilman Trail and just a few more steps to the lake. I love that there's so little traffic that the kids can ride bikes and skateboard on our street. This is our first house with a garage and our boys have taken over the parking spaces for a skateboard "bobsled" course off the driveway. I love our remodeled space that has an open floor plan, which is great for parties. And when I'm missing California on rainy days, there's no better place to be than to be curled up by our fireplace with my sons and a good book.
