I currenty attend this school and i am transfering to a different school in a couple months do NOT go there unless you want to be miserable the school is terrible and boring and it was also meant to be a middle school so its very small so you wont even feel like your in high school.

Eastside is a terrible school. I'm currently a student there and I don't even feel like I'm in high school. It's way too small and overcrowded. The lockers are extremely small for the book we have. The teachers are pretty good. The best thing about this school is the block schedule and they are changing that next year. I wouldn't not recommend this school to anyone that wants a real high school experience.

It's a great school with excellent teachers and faculty. My daughter loves it!

My child was in private school and was not doing well. We moved him to EHS where he is doing much better. I have had no problems as of yet. As a matter of fact my other child was in private school as well - making all A's - she will be going to EHS as a freshman. She wanted to experiance a larger school atmospher. I have been surprised what a great school EHS is. Not what I expected - everyone has been so helpful. We look forward to another great year at EHS. The staff is wonderful - the only area of improvment would be the class sizes - seems to be a little over crowded.

Eastside is a great school and I would recomend it to anyone trying to find a school for their children. Great staff and administration also.

My child use to attend Eastside and he still has many friends still there. Thankfully we could afford to send him to a private school for better academics. He was barely passing at Eastside and now has an outstanding GPA and SAT score. We thought he may have a learning disability that did not show up until ninth grade however he was just bored. The students are correct - the teachers (as a whole) do not seem to have a positive attitude about teaching there(lots of administrator/teacher conflicts) and it reflects in their abilities in the classroom. In their defense I think it is hard to teach children that do not feel they are respected. And the adminstration at Eastside does not seem to respect students or give them the benefit of the doubt. As a result students are dropping out quite frequently.

Eastside has a great principal and administration. Dr. Daria has really stepped up and fulfilled the duties of his position. I wish there were less behavioral problems though among the students.

Great Teachers Good leadership from the principal and his assistants.

I am a senior at eastside and have attended for 3 yrs. Eastside has many problems. For one it is extremely overcrowded. We get 8 min. To get to class and believe me you need it. Secondly the schools administration is too distracted by small things like enforcing dress codes rather than students poor behavior. By poor behavior i mean... Students are savagely picked on there is excessive cussing and ignorant and sexual comments/behavior. Many teachers also share personal information about thier lives outside of school and have a lackadasical attitude towards teaching. This ranges from showing movies to assigning work all the time while they do nothing. Traffic is also a huge problem. It takes 20 min just to leave the school. Finally many departments are underfunded. For instance all you can play in gym is ping pong or basketball everyday because that is all the have.

I am not a parent but a current junior at EHS. The new administration is trying to clean up after the last pitiful principle. However the students are all pushed into the cafeteria now as opposed to being allowed in the commons area for meals no food or drink is allowed in class (but some of the teachers slack off on that which i thank)and new dress code is being inforced (some of the rules i disagree with such as shirts have to be shorter than fingertip length. I thought it would be better to wear longer shirts instead of midriff tops). Even with these changes the fine arts department does not recieve enough money and our losing football team does. I believe our band and colorguard should be allowed new uniforms every year like our rival schools. It's embaressing to wear the same thing for SEVEN years.

I'm not an actual parent but I just graduated from Eastside in 2005. I also have a younger brother that attends there. I think that Eastside like many other high schools of its size and age has a lot kinks to work out. Whether it be with sports student organizations or the faculty. Many of the others that wrote in are right. A lot of the teachers can go slightly off track. They do however lack in the area of knowledge when it comes to dealing with student problems such as bullying and dress code. I feel the school needs to bring in more counselors and help the teachers learn more about how to handle the different types of students and the situations they face.

Eastside is a great school! Yes we've had our problems but our teachers and administrators are doing everything they can to improve our school. Everyone keeps talking about the dress code. It is a big deal for the students but it does help them to focus. The short skirts and tiny shirts distract people from learning. Yes our teachers do have a tendency to diverge and talk about themselves but most do it as an example of the real world which we are so close to entering. I believe Eastside is a great school! I am very proud to call myself an EHS senior!

Eastside is a wonderful school. The teachers are excellent and the administration is overall very helpful. They have gotten more strict on the dress code which is a bad thing for students but I can understand where they are coming from. I have to disagree with a previous post on that they do not enforce the dress code. In the first week of school after the dress code was put in place there were approx. 300 office referrals. Most of the teachers are very hands on with the students there might be a few here and there that are just about themselves but that is rare. Everyone is treated equally the so called 'freaks' that want to be outcasts and don't let anyone talk to them do that to themselves the teachers are very open minded and don't discriminate against anyone. I would highly recommend this school to anyone.

Well my experience as EHS has been great. I have had no problems. The teachers have been great as well as the curriculum. The only problem I have is that there isn't enough electives to choose from. I would like to have ROTC or a shop class of some sourt just to have more classes to choose from. The students here do accept people and more importantly the teachers do as well.

Wonderful school! I have a daughter in 9th grade and I have been so impressed with the teacher involvement and overall concern. The curriculum is challenging but due to the teacher's outreach she is successful and encouraged! We LOVE Eastside HS!

I wouldn't really recommend this school. Teachers weren't very interested in teaching we watched movies most of the time. Children who weren't of wealthy status were treated very badly. My parents kept me in this school because it was either this or Newton High. Eastside ISN'T welcoming to ill children either. There is NO parent-teacher contact outside of sports. The courses weren't very challenging. I do have praise for the Foreign Languages Dept.! The teachers are very dedicated and one on one with their students. Personal views get between a teacher-student relationship at this school. Eastside isn't very tolerant of people out of the 'norm'. Private school is the way2go!

I would have to agree with some things that one of the reviewers said. Eastside has a HUGE problem with cussing and disrespect. I go to school there and it is horrible. My old high school never let students get away with that. The teachers also share their personal lives too much. It's really easy to get teachers off subject so that we don't have to do work. All you have to do is mention something about their lives outside of school. Eastside has gotten more strict on their dress code policy... supposedly. They never really do anything to people when they don't follow the dress code. They give many warnings and threats at school about sending the students to ISS or something but they never do. They only give them another warning. Eastside should really step it up.

This school needs some help with there administration and with there counslers. Many people are to afraid to say anything about teachers here. The teachers at Eastside Highschool are too underqualified and are not able to deal with many things they have to face. Some go on and on about their personal lives and many rely too much on students. Overall safety and teasing is a huge problem. Many students are being picked on that are too scared to say anything about it because they feel it will only get worse. The dress code which is the main thing that people seem to be enforcing is not helping at all with the students scores violence or their language which is a pretty big issue. When you walk into the commons area at lunch is so chaotic and the only alternative lunchs for vegetarians are pizza(sometimes cheese) and salad.
