My son is in 4th grade at Pineview While I agree that the school is not in the best neighborhood I also think that some of the ppl posting are probably scared of their own shadow. I would not necessarily feel entirely safe driving to the school at night by myself but I wouldn't freak out about it either. There were 2 incidents but neither occurred on school property and they were both handled in my opinion with an abundance of caution. My son is doing well at PVMS both socially and academically. His teacher is wonderful! The administrative staff seems on top of things and enforce school board policies. My only complaint is that they don't respond to emails. They fix the problem or concern but they don't actually write you back....kind of rude and annoying. But overall the school does not deserve the bad rep it receives.

Each child is vastly different. What works for some might not work for others. I believe this is the case In EVERY school in the country. Because my child attends Pine View I am hesitant to speak negative of it. I try to have a positive approach and role. Yes there has been recent events that have concerned me. Which we did not experience last year. But I have FAITH in her principle and staff. She is excelling at this school. Even with some of her learning disabilities. Though I don't approve of violence of any kind. Both of these recent incidents WERE NOT on school campus. I just continue to put my trust in our school system. My family and I have been very pleased with Pine View Middle
This is the worst school I've ever seen. The area it is located is very run down and my son is afraid to go to school here. Hes only been in school for 2 months and they have already sent two letters home about the police having to visit the school because of some kind of threat or fight. I was very hesitant to send him here in the first place but because of where we live this is the only option. I have several friends who have kids that have went to this school and have taken them out because of how bad it is. Now my son is scared to go back to school and it breaks my heart. Children should not have to be afraid at school. Its just ridiculous. I am getting out of this school district as fast as I can. I would not recommend this school to anyone.
this school had so much potential but fell way short. Little parental involvement even though we tried; facilities are depressing; faculty lack professional development. Gifted program uses same teachers for all 3 years - disappointing! Talented theater and art are WONDERFUL. Testing for special services is so slow it is sad. AR is not used properly so kids are actually disincentivised to read or to challenge themselves to read at higher levels. "Computer class" is a joke. 4th grade teachers are good. And the neighborhood makes it feel like the system doesn't care about the school or the area.
This is our second year at Pine View and it is outstanding Mrs. Tillman and Mr. Miller have total control of the student body but give the teachers freedom to teach in whatever style fits there strengths. My daughter has thrived in both Mrs. Lewko's 4th grade class and Mrs. Dean's 5th grade class. Overall VERY happy with Pine View
This school is a "0" in my book they were supposed to do special testing with my son for 7 month and still not done- thier student to parent ratio is too high.
Little or no discipline. No accountability with student behavior. Little or no parent participation. Lack of communication between administration and teachers.
We move around with the military quite a bit and my son has attended many schools in many different states. I would like to think that this makes me somewhat of an expert at being able to tell a good school from a bad school. Pine View is the worst school my son has ever attended. The rules are way to strict and my sons teachers were very discouraging. My son excelled before attending pineview then fell way behind. He only went there 1 year before we moved out of state but I would have done everything in my ability for him not to attend that school this year. 4th grade is not middle school and the kids should not have to follow the same rules as 6th graders. The school is in a terrible part of town I never felt comfortable with him there or even driving to and from school.
This is my daughters first year at Pine View and it was kinda tough for her to adjust. Her teacher saw that she was having trouble and helped her through it. Can't say that my daughter is a straight A student but I can say that she will be ready for the LEAP test and the fifth grade!
This is my daughter first year at Pineview and I have not had any problems she has really done well and in the beginning it was kinda ruff but with talking to the teacher and understanding how thinks work she has excel
I liked it ok when my kid went there. Teachers are good. Nice people when you go to office. Bus was always late or sometimes never came.
1 out of 5 stars. Good luck trying to get faculty or adminisyration of any kind to call you back. A handful of teachers are great. Most on the other hand give out grades and are only looking to boost self-esteem and not academic progress. I do not recommend anyone sending their child here if you do not have to.
My son went here in 4th grade and was in the gifted program. He did excellent in this program and I feel that he was challenged. I will say that if he was in the regular classroom everyday I don't think I would have a such a positive review. I like how the kids take gifted math science and language arts everyday whereas other school's gifted program is more of a 'fun' program with the kids doing extra things. As with any school I think parent involvement makes a big difference.
This school has some ubsurd rules. I once got written up for putting my backpack in the wrong place it was a safety hazard but I didn't know that because I was new. The teachers are mean but they want to make sure you go to the next grade. I'm in 5th grade and getting ready to go into to the Gifted program. My normal work in class is extremly easy. I recomend this school to a person who wants a great hard earned education.
This is my daughter's first year at Pine View and we are extremely pleased. She is consistently being challenged by her teacher which helps develop her cognitive schools to prepare her for what's to come. She attends schools with students that come from the best of families and so I'm also pleased that she is not being surrounded by negative pressure. I recommend Pine View to anyone new to the Northshore.
While I find there to be a couple of really good teachers at this school there are always those that are lacking. I was NOT happy with this school and will be moving before any of my other children have to go there.
As a former staff memeber at pineview i can truly tell you that it is a excellent school. Administration and staff all make sure that everyone is safe at all times. I recently have a daughter that attends the school she is very happy with here teachers. We have seen her grow into a very bright young girl. I highly recommend pineview to anyone just moving to the area. You will be very happy with the faculty and staff. They put ever effort into making the school a good learning environment. The choir band drama clubs are good. A big thanks to all of you for your support of the years. Please bring back 21st century my daughter enjoys the chance to better herself and get her homework done.
This school is truely outstanding. My son just finished his first year at Pineview and I'm very pleased with the teachers and administration. The principal is extremely energetic and works hard to ensure children are treated with respect. This school is A++
