An amazing school. Easily the best in the district. Teachers go above and beyond whats expected and want the best for their students. Lastly their faith is unbelievable and are constantly teaching Gods word to the students

St. Thomas creates a high standard for our children Developing a relationship with God holding students accountable for there actions and striving to be their all around best. By 8th grade your child is ready to succeed at the high school level. I have seen the results in my kids relatives and even decades ago. I had friends that went to St.Thomas and you can see the difference. I wish more families would engage.
I couldn't be happier about St Thomas. I've dealt with a lot of hardship over the last year have become a single parent and the principal Deanne Roy has come to our rescue so many times. I'm grateful for the teachers. I have 3 children in kindergarten 2nd & 6th and their teachers have been nothing short of amazing. Can't speak enough positivity about the school.
My son 5th grade son has been going to St. Thomas since Kindergarten. It has proven to be an excellent school. The teachers for the most part have been excellent. They control the classroom well and teach the children in a loving way. I spend quite a bit of time volunteering at the school and have never seen any bullying. Any problems on the school yard are nipped in the bud immediately without hesitation. His class size is 20-21 kids and has been this size every year. This gives the teacher plenty of time to spend with each student. Their academic work is rigorous and the results show in the standardized test each year when they test 1-2 grades higher than kids in other schools. St. Thomas is a Catholic school with high standards.
I have been so pleased with the environment for my son at St. Thomas the Apostle. This past year was his first year at the school and I found communication from the school to be consistent ( weekly) and whenever I had any questions the teacher and staff always were available and kind. He thrived in the environment and I am so pleased with the academics and faith development that he has received. My husband and I chose the school to help reinforce our Catholic Faith in his life outside of our home and to give him the structure and academic background that he will need as he grows. He will be sent here as well as his siblings when they reach school age and are able to join him in this community of faith that is a family as well.
I was hesitate at first to put my son at this school but I'm pretty much satisfied with the result There are so much involvement opportunity we have communication is great every week the principal sends information on what's going on and classroom teacher always sends us email at least once a week and they are so reachable and kind. The receptionist/admin staffs are so friendly. I love the PTO they are so welcoming to new family members very positive environment. I can't afford to pay the full amount tuition but no question asked for participating in the Fair Ability program. My priority to put my kid in a school that teaches value and faith because I have seen too many smart people don't have a strong foundation to cope with difficulties in life when they grow up. I'd like my kid has a balance between academic and life skills in the future. I went to Catholic schools from K to college and that's the best gift I've ever received from my mom the strong faith and value foundation that made me survive many times through tough times.
We have been very unhappy with this school. Limited engagement with families. Limited communication. Principal has a concerning view on bullying. Not alot of consistency. For the money that you pay you get significantly less in most areas than the public school. From a Faith perspective they are very good.
All three of my kids have gone to St. Thomas since kindergarten and I have no doubt it is the best school in Crystal Lake. Academically my kids are doing work far more advanced than their friends who attend public schools. When my oldest started high school she found some of her freshman courses easier than her 8th-grade classes at St. Thomas. In addition to core subjects and of course religion the basic curriculum includes art music technology and spanish classes. St. Thomas also has excellent athletic and extracurricular programs and there is an emphasis on community service and involvement. One of the best aspects of St. Thomas for me as a parent is the sense of family. Parents grandparents etc. are welcome and encouraged to be involved in the school and school activities even going so far as providing meals and assistance for school families going through medical or other crises. I highly recommend St. Thomas and would never even consider sending my kids to any other school.
The best in the county. A great atmosphere for spiritual and general education.
My child is a new student for the 2009-2010 school year so far so good. Lots of parent envolvement. Lots of activities. Very friendly enviroment. I will give another update at the end of the school year.
Not STS s biggest fan. Faculty and staff are most assuredly not the best examples of Christians. I believe the fairness is selective. Academically ok not fantastic. No school is perfect but one anticipates a cut above when paying tuition. Not sure you will find it here.
The teachers are great and the prinicpal and assistant principal make a great team. They all really care about the kids and are easy to talk to. It is a great school with a focus on Catholocism and community service.
St. Thomas is an excellent school both academically and spriritually. The teachers and administration really care about the students and go above and beyond in all areas. The students are well prepared for high school in a loving Christian environment.
St. Thomas is a wonderful school with many sports for a child to get involved in. My daughter was active in Cheerleading Basketball and Volleyball. The coaches were always great and caring people who voluntared their time to run a great program for the kids. My son is on the Volleyball team and the Basketball team. The coaches work very hard to provide this extra-curricular program for all the kids. The athletic teams have been wonderful for helping to shape my kids into fair-playing sports players. I am very grateful for all the hard work of the coaches parents and everyone involved for the kids. It truly is a great athletic program open to all the children in the upper grades.
My 3 brothers 3 sisters and myself all attended this Catholic K-8 school. Though it was much smaller at the time it has maintained its high academic quality. Besides hiring only the best of teachers who are there because they want to be...not because 'its a job ' they ensure each student leaves with a strong set of morals to fall back on when needed. This school will teach your son/daughter to think independantly work well in groups and he/she will be given the qualities that all great leaders require. I can't say enough good things about this institution. Parent's are always allowed to give their say and can be as involved as they like. As with most schools there are PTO boards lunch moms and all kinds of parent organized groups to become part of if desired. It is a great way to see the future plans of the school.
