Georgia High School Graduation Test (GHSGT)

In 2010-2011 Georgia administered the Georgia High School Graduation Test (GHSGT) in English language arts, math, science and social studies to students in grade 11. The GHSGT is a standards-based assessment, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined by the state of Georgia. Students must pass all parts of the GHSGT in order to graduate from high school. The goal is for all students to pass the test.

I am a parent of a teacher and grandparent of a student who have moved from Gwinnett County to Forsyth County. I still live in Gwinnett County where my children grew up and was very disappointed when my daughters teaching experience and my granddaughters learning experience in Gwinnett was so negative. Forsyth County is like a breath of fresh air for both teachers and students. .....and grandparents. North Forsyth focuses on the positive abilities and achievement of teachers and students. The administration and school board assist teachers in discipline and do not ignore teacher or child safety. They also find special and accelerated classes to meet students needs. As a lifelong Georgia with 9 years post secondary education I can assure you the county and school your children attend does matter. Norcrosslady

North Forsyth High is a great school in a great location within the state of Georgia.

NFHS is a very good school! We have moved from out of state and the staff and administration has been nothing but supportive and helpful and very pleasant to work with. Our child has been able to get into all of his classes he needed and wanted including all AP and Dual Enrollment classes. The teachers and staff really strive to help your child in succeeding and really show they care! Very pleased! It also takes a lot of support from Parents as well as the child to succeed - if the parents are not willing to help and support the system and your child the system along with your child fails...

Awful school. My student is an AP honor student top athlete and we still can't stomach this school. The teaching is below average (they've given up) the students for the most part could care less about their education. Come on Forsyth County and Georgia for that matter. When will proper education be important and encouraging the students to have respect for their educations and future and more importantly THEMSELVES. We had to move to this state for job purposes and are saddened by the lack of education and parental involvement at every school level. It's a shame. We will be moving before our other child has to endure Georgia schools.

NFHS is overcrowded and understaffed. The fire marshal will no doubt be intervening and if the administration does not cut their out-of-district population there is no way they can meet the building person limit codes. If you are out-of-district be prepared to be sent back to your home school for any little thing (tardy included) now 4.0 students are being sent to their home schools due to a few tardies. North needs relief now and in-district students are suffering in crowded hallways and lunchrooms while other new schools in the county have empty classrooms waiting to be filled.

We have a great administrative staff and teachers that really care about the students!

I have been at North Forsyth since my sophomore year. I moved from an extremely competitive school in Massachusetts and came to find my classes to be much easier than they were at my old school. However I don't attribute this to the teachers. I just think that kids aren't prepared for high school coming out of Georgia Elementary and Middle Schools. I am happy to say that I am going back to Massachusetts for college. I will have very fond memories of NFHS especially from my many AP classes (the ones I was lucky enough to get) and will keep in contact with friends that I have made through the years. Overall the teachers clearly care about their students and want the best for them but the level of learning is not what it should be.

North Forsyth High School is wonderful. We have had nothing but good experiences. The staff is the most caring we have experienced. Their academic standards are very high. It is a large school but everyone goes out of their way to let the students know they care. We highly recommend this school.

North Forsyth is a wonderful school. The staff is the most caring and supportive we have experienced. It is a large school but people go out of their way to make sure the students know they care. Academic expectations are very high. We have been very satisfied with the education at the school.

My son has attended North since he was a freshman. I am extremely disappointed in this school. The staff is rude the administration is indifferent and most of the teachers don't care. In the 4 years my son attended he failed 2 classes but was given a 70 so he could pass to the next grade. Most of the teachers are indifferent to the kids and just herd them through whether they learn anything or not. There is no pride from the staff or teachers or the kids that attend. There are much better choices in Forsyth county for high schools.

I attended North as a student for 2 & 1/2 years. They certainly do not have the cleanest environment but it is tolerable. The staff can be alright. There are those who don't care about the students progress but then there's always those few that do. The teaching is very poor. They tend to have ridiculous assignments for the students- ex 11th grade cutting pasting and coloring pages into an 'Interactive Notebook' as the daily classwork. I dropped out of North with a gpa of under 2 and many offenses on my record especially truancy. I now attend a new more professional learning environment and have absolutely no problems. I've yet to find myself in any trouble and my gpa has risen to above 3.4. Bottom line if I could tell each one of you my honest opinions of North as a former student do NOT send your child there.

Compared to Liberty County GA Schools - North Forsyth seems to be light years ahead in academics extracurricular and in teaching. My wife and I look forward to moving to Forsyth County and sending our kids to North Forsyth High School. Great job.

Amazing! Great faculty student body extra-curricular activities and facilities. The only thing lacking is the baseball field by far one of the worst in the county.

This school is alright. I moved here in the middle of my Sophmore year and I can tell you it was hard transition I went from a 6 period day to a block schdual and I had to repeat some classes. Some teachers are ok but Over all this school is average

This was my first year at North and let's just say i an not in love with it. I have many teachers that could care less if i pass or not. The environment here is very in unwelcoming. It is unsanitary and just a worn out school. The teachers don't care about the child's needs. Overall North Forsyth high school has not impressed me one bit!

North Forsyth is an amazing school and I enjoyed all four years that I spent there. My teachers were so caring! I graduated in 2005 but I still keep in touch with some of my old teachers because they were that great! They were truly concerned with each student and their grades. They could see the potential and they would do whatever it took to help each student reach their goals! Of course they could be strict sometimes but that's their job! They push you because they care! It was for our own good! I treasure my education and I owe so much thanks to NFHS! Definitely the best school in Georgia! )

North Forsyth is a wonderful school. I moved here with my family wife and 2 kids (6th and 10th grade from MA (Wellesley) and my kids are very happy and I am happy as well. Two of my sons teachers have masters and most of the rest have Bachelor degrees. Kids love the school teachers and friendlier kids than they had up north in MA.

My son will be a Sophmore this year he is very involved in sports and is a B-average student. He really enjoys school and he says his teachers are cool! If the next three years go as great as the last one--we will be happy! The parents that I have met are awsome and care about their children and their school!

North Forsyth is the best school in Forsyth County. And the teachers are amazing.

Nfhs is a terrible school! They are not truly a 'school of excellence' Their block scheduling creates a huge obstacle when a student needs additional time grasping any particular lesson this is because there is simply no time in the curriculum for the teacher to spend more time focusing on any one part!
