Oklahoma Core Curriculum Tests (OCCT)

In 2008-2009 Oklahoma used the Oklahoma Core Curriculum Tests (OCCT) to test students in grades 3 through 8 in reading and math. Students in grade 5 were also tested in writing, science and social studies. Students in grade 7 were tested in geography, and students in grade 8 were tested in writing, science and U.S. history. The results for reading, math, science and social studies are displayed on GreatSchools profiles. The OCCT is a standards-based test, which means it measures specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Oklahoma. The goal is for all students to score at or above the satisfactory level on the test.

My son just completed his first year at Kerr. It was a very good experience for him. I was concerned because other schools had better ratings but turns out there was no cause for alarm. My son is somewhat shy and I hoped he wouldn't have any problems. He didn't. The students were friendly. The teachers were kind and caring. They kept me informed on his progress. I even got a weekly email from the band instructor as to what was going on for the week. Thankful to the staff for helping to make the transfer from elementary to middle school a smooth one for my child.

Kerr really welcomed my son with open arms. He was going to Monroney as a transfer student but at the end of the first week he was told "Sorry we're over are numbers you can't go here anymore!" Kerr is his home-base school. The counselors were so nice to us. All of his teachers seem awesome and the front desk seems friendly. Mr. Cherry also is a great figure head and funny.

Enrollment was very efficient for my incoming 6th grader. They had "Camp Eagle" to let new students learn about school teachers how to open a locker and served them lunch! It helped with some of the fears of going to middle school. Very nice and friendly staff! Look forward to a good year!

So I loved most of my teachers and counselors I also liked the principal . But my fellow classmates were disrespectful and idiotic.

This school is really getting the community involved and improves all the time! Tinker Air Force Base Wing 552 has adopted this school and is involved in improvement projects mentoring and tutoring! Kerr has a great staff and PTA my kids are really doing welll at this school.

NOT a very good school they cram math classes down the kids and the majority of what they teach in those classes-math-is only used in a few specialized fields. The state of OK has forced these tests on the students and it's all that matters to the staff--make US look good screw your education. The disrespect and bullying is right on check facebook for "nice" videos of students fighting and cursing. Most but not all the teachers are there to just collect a paycheck and go home.

This school is a good school. Some kids are disrespectful alot of times But theres only a handful. The priciples care and so do the teachers. The counselers are on the ball. The 3 years i went to Kerr were some of the best.

I want to say that I loved my daughter's teachers however that doesn't change my rating of only 2 stars. It is not the school's fault that they are strapped with horribly underdesciplined children. The behavior of the students is horrible they curse make sexual remarks and bully and that is all in the 6th grade! We will be transferring my daughter to private school next year.

My daughter has not attended this school as she is entering the 6th grade this year. However I have had to keep some of my co-workers children while they deployed and those children attended this school. From what I can see their was limited staff oversight of the children. I could hear children cursing loudly at each other. Some kids were play fighting and bullying other kids. The facilities seem to be in disrepair also. I attempted to transfer my daughter within the school district but was basically told that because the district receives $4000 per out of district transfer those children get priority over our childen that live right here in the district. If anybody has had this experience please leave a post as I will be going to the school board about this matter. In the mean time my child will be going to Moore Schools.

The school has had a new principal every year never meet this last one. The counselors just sit in their offices and just deal with problem kids. needs more parental involvement badly. My son goes there and I have looked into to another junior high not any in Del City as both are not good. There are some really good teachers here the science and math teachers are great. The home ec teacher needs to retire badly. This school is a BIG disappointment. My other child will NEVER go to the school. I will not allow her. They let students leave school by themselves. A student was in trouble and the counselor just let the student walk home since the parent was at work. I was horrified at this this is a HUGE safety problem. Bad students from OKC go here if they stop it the school could be good.
