My son has been a student at Woodward for 5 years for most part until recent years the teachers have been awesome. However some staff communication skills do need some work. The higher level teachers are so worked that it seems to affect their comminication. The teachers are exellent.

Because it offers many unique teaching practices that allow students to participate in a wide variety of educational opportunities.

It is one of the most 'caring' schools I have ever taught in. That includes staff parents teachers aides lunch room ladies and the cleaning staff. We all work together to help each other and mostly to give the students our very best. We literally fight to our last breath to help each and every student achive their best. Our purpose is clear and we want our students to love going to school and learning everything they can.

    Awesome teachers and administration

All 4 of my daughters have attended Woodward Avenue Elementary School. The school is dedicated to the students and making sure they are well educated and ready to hit Middle School. The teachers are the best and they have single gender classes which aid in learning. They work hand in hand with Stetson University and bring great programs to the school.

Woodward's principal cares deeply about this school and all of its faculty staff students and parents. The innovative single gender program this school has works to meet the individual needs of all students.

My son started attending Woodward elem. in kindergarden he is now going to the 4th grade. I can not say enough good things about the school teachers staff and students. The same gender classes are amazing - it really gears to girl/boy way of thinking. Everyone at the school really goes the extra step. Thankyou for 4 great years.

I took my son out of private school to attend their same gender classes and gifted program. We have been very pleased and we were amazed by the administration.

Woodward is the best elementary school in Deland. It is the 'other' school for gifted children has only ever had 2 principles in its 25+ years in existence. Many teachers have been there for a long time as well although they are beginning to retire out. School has great relationship with Stetson University for tutoring and interns. Principal works until late in the evening every night and is a wonderful and willing resource for parents and children. Get involved with SAC committee - they discuss teaching theories and what the school is doing. Very progressive school - not afraid to try anything if it helps the kids.

Woodward is the best elementary school in Volusia County in my opinion. The teachers and especially the principals of this school really take time to get to know the students on a one-to-one basis. It has kept an 'A' rating for two years now and the quality of work that the students put out is phoenominal. The students in the 3rd grade consistently test high on the FCAT as well. And the amount of parent support for the teachers and students is more than the average. They have music art and sports for all ages and also extracurricular activities as well. The only drawback this school has is that it handwriting is not really high on the list of priorities but the parents pick up the slack in that area. My son has been there two years and has excelled each year and that is due to the teachers consistency.
