Pennsylvania System of State Assessments (PSSA)

In 2011-2012 Pennsylvania used the Pennsylvania System of State Assessments (PSSA) to test students in grades 3 through 8 and 11 in math and reading, in grades 5, 8 and 11 in writing, and in grades 4, 8 and 11 in science. The results for reading, writing and math are displayed on GreatSchools profiles. The PSSA is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Pennsylvania. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the test.

I am so unhappy with the way the high school deals with children that have IEP's. They have a habit of telling the parents what they want them to know not the law.

My son is a senior at the high school. I am so impressed with the district. The counslors and administration focus on the students and for them to be the best citizen and student they can be. The teachers worked with my son to improve his study habits and gave him the self esteem to continue with his education.

I have been a substitute teacher at Cocalico High School for 5 years. The administration and faculty are a pleasure to work with. The lesson plans are always clear and thorough. There is a wide range of courses available. There are AP courses vo-tech courses photography journalism etc. The level of teacher committment is exceptional. If a student wants to he can get a very good education. The student body is generally pleasant. Like any school there are problems but on the whole the students are polite and respectful.
