I believe Hurst is an excellent middle school. My daughter needed so much guidance and help with homework in 6th grade but when she went on to Hurst she became a much more involved student and independent learner. The academics are appropriately challenging without being overwhelming. She is very involved in the band program and loves the band instructor. There are many extracurricular programs to choose from. I am involved in my child's schoolwork and progress. There are many parents who are active in all aspects of the school's functioning. I stay on the sidelines but do what I can. I love what Hurst has done for my daughter. She is actually excited about going to school. This is her second year. The principal is outstanding. He makes sure to know each student and his/her invividual personality.
