I am a proud alumni of Western International High School. Initially my family did not want me to attend this high school because it was known for gangs and drugs. However I knew things had changed especially after Mrs Luna became Principle. I successfully graduated valedicotrian in my class with a 4.5 (AP classes) while I was involved in extra curricular activities like Journalism Drama Soccer Student Council Yearbook and Steering Committee. I attended the Univeristy of Michigan-Ann Arbor for undergrad and am currently pursing a Master's Degree at the University of Southern California. I may not have gotten here without the foundations implemented by my high school and the support of some of the teachers.

I am a former student who moved to Macomb and now attend Dakota High. Honestly I would move back to Western in a heartbeat. The counselors are so much better and the teachers are so involved. The best part is the diversity. The clicks are SO bad here. In Western you have everyone with everyone. Here they stress athletics more then academics. Western had both. I was a top student and when I came here I ended up failing my pre-calc class. The teacher was always joking and yes you're hearing this right juggling in class. I passed CALCULUS with a B in Western. These suburban schools aren't all what they claim to be. Of course there's gang activity drugs and fights. It's an inner-city school. But guess what. It's just as bad in the suburbs. At least in Western you have a sense of belonging. Proud Cowboy 4ever!!!

I'am a proud parent ..Western in my opinion is a good school.I'am with the pta and with my involvement It helps alot to get things done If you have a problem. My daughter will be graduating this year. My family was worried because I put my daughter In this school they were scared of the gang activities and thought she might not make it through but she did and i like to thank mrs. Luna for her involvement In keeping the gang activities away from the school.I rate this school good

The school is okay. Most of the teachers play favortism towards the overachievers.

As a transfer student to Western International I am extremely satisfied with the move. The college counselor Ms. Henry is the best thing that has happened to that school. Due to her dedication to student success I am attending a four year university with no out of pocket expenses. I LOVE YOU MISS HENRY!!

I am about to become a junior at this school and I have to say that I hope my last two years at Western will be better than the first two. There has been a change of leadership at the school having Mr. Vasquez from Earhart taking over from where Ms. Luna left off. I hope he can bring some order back to the school. Last year the students were pulling fire alarms to cut classes and riot about there beloved principal. It was chaotic and completely unneccessary. My biggest concern however is about the rising gang activity at the school. With more and more DPS schools closing all of the low lifes and gang bangers are entering and doing as they please. This needs to be stopped ASAP before it gets out of hand...

I am about to become a sophmore at this awesome school. My favorite part are the competitions that i have been to with the rough rider battalion and also we love our principal! she is the best principal ever!

I graduated from this school in 2007...we currently hold the record for the most money offered in scholorships... My honest opion of this school is that its all up to the person on how they make their experince there at western. There are some teachers that dont care and then there are the ones that do put much effort into trying to help a students future but dont get the recognition they deserve. My senior year was the first year that the uniform policy was placed... i think that this was a stepping stone to a better enviroment.. what will really make a big difference is placing a strict attendence policy! This will actually force students to attend school and actually could raise test scores!

Also the school has a nice scholarship program and many extra activies. This school is the best in the DPS district. Dont go to cass go to Western

This school is an excellent way to get students to take heed to diversity. i am currently a junior at this school and everyone is so different and has so much to offer! i love Western the most because it is and always will be Different. Noone expects Western to come out on top but they do! We have some of the best Extra Curricular activities in the Dps system whether it be basketball Swim and even Robotics!

This school should b similiar to a boys and girls club because the teaching is insuffecient for the grade level and the atmoshphere is horrid!

This school was not the best for me. Western did not explain the importance of ACT's along with SAT's or anything to prepare you for college. I would not recommend this High School for anyone.

Academics here are lacking evening in the Honors Program. I had to request that teachers give my child more work and they didn't do it. Athletics are very political.

I have been in DPS since the 1st grade and I know personally that the schools put there children first espically the teachers. This year I am a freshman at Western International High and i am an honors student. This school is just so marvolous. All of the teachers treat you like you were there own there very cool and understanding espically when it comes down to serious situations that you need help with. Here I relized that unlike other schools this school does not have any tolerance for missbehavior. Unlike many schools hey check Identifacation cards and has school security on every floor. Here they inforce the rules and with three skrikes your out of there. Teachers and staff does no harass you or descriminate aginst you the treat you innocent and till proven guilty. I really love my school because its a multi-racial school full of spanish/english-speaking teens. DPS 4life

This school is great. All the students respond to all forms of rules. 2007 has changed these student and so has the principals! This school rocks!

The level of parental involvement here at Western is very low. Parents do not care about their childs education and we need choir back. the sports teams are excellent except for male football.

I graduated from Western in 2005 and believe that Western is a great school. However Western does not prepare its students well enough to excel at the University level. I attend U of M (University of Michigan) and have had great success however I look at my fellow peers and they understand and have been better prepared. I even was an AP/Honors student and have realized that those classes just gave me enough to understand the basics. For the most part Western does offer a great experience aside from the academic aspect.

Western is not the best school to go to. Most students are disruptive and really dont care about thier education. It also prevents other who want thier education from learning. The education you receive here wont prepare you for college unless your going to commuinty college. I hear way to much complaining about the teachers and other stuff but the students dont help ethier.

I currently attend western international h.S. And i have been enrolled in this school since the 9th grade. Overall it is a really good high school we dont really have a nerd group that people pick on theres really not alot of that type of immature things taking place. There are alot of great programs in the school but the students need more encouragement to be envolved. We could use alot of money donations but we are still a very accomplishing school. Were a very multiracial school and most are all african american. We have a good caring staff at times and sometimes there more childish then a ninth grader.
