Beth Whitlinger

Elisabeth Loren (Foist) Whitlinger received her Bachelor of Science in Decorative Arts and Design from Arizona State University in 1982. Starting off in the residential market, Beth worked on numerous model homes projects in Scottsdale, Phoenix, and Chandler, Arizona.

Moving to Hawaii in the mid 80's, her focus changed to commercial spaces to include offices, restaurants, hotels and timeshares, and automobile dealerships on the islands of Oahu, Maui, Hawaii, and Kauai. In 1990, a move to Southern California and a focus on office space planning enabled her to work on projects all over the United States from Maine to California, as well as Mexico and Canada.

Since starting her own design practice in 1994, Beth Whitlinger Interior Design has been providing excellence in design services to the commercial market in Southern California and as of 2001, the practice has expanded to once again include residential interiors. BWID received the platinum award for best small space in 2002 , and the platinum award for best media room in 2005 in the Orange County Home magazine/ASID competition, and most recently the gold award for best home under 3,500 square feet in the 2008 Orange Coast magazine/ASID competition. Beth has been quoted in many publications including Smart Money Magazine, Orange Coast Magazine, Coast Magazine, ICON Magazine, and Walls, Windows & Floors Magazine.

The design work of BWID has been featured in the Orange County Register, Space Magazine, Coast Magazine, Orange County Home Magazine, Orange Coast Magazine, Windows, Walls & Floors Magazine, Home by Design Magazine, ICON Magazine, "One Room Three Ways" by Better Homes and Gardens Books, Electronic House magazine, Window Fashions Magazine, as well as several episodes of Designer's Challenge on HGTV.

In addition to a successful practice in Interior Design, Beth has taught Color Theory and Business Communications to Interior Design students at Brooks College in Long Beach, been a guest speaker at several Design programs in Arizona and California, and acted as a co-advisor for the student members of the Brooks College chapter of ASID.

A passion for architecture and art history, Beth has traveled throughout Mexico, Canada, Europe, Great Britain and North Africa studying architectural sites. This passion for structure and simple interpretation of form translates into her designs. No two projects look alike, but each one has a simple, timeless elegance that enhances the architecture of the space.
