Seattle Exterior Facelift
This client engaged us to address the rot & mold that had invaded the structure while giving her house more curb appeal. On little projects like these, budget often dictates our solution & our task is to maximize value on behalf of our clients while elegantly solving problems at a price point our client can afford. Our foremost problem was to solve water infiltration. We striped the south facade down to the studs, tore out rotted lumber, added insulation & a high performance building paper & then sided with cementitious siding. We also added a covered entry that both welcomes & protects the house. A minimal arbor creates a public space that adds visual interest & provides a public zone between house & street. This zone is a way for our client, who runs a business on the upper level of her home, to get out & interact with the world. In short, this remodel was a contextual solution that blends well with its neighbors & promotes community through a classic front porch design.
