In need of TLC might describe this stylish, midcentury ranch. Situated in a great location with nearby arboretum, the kitchen suffered from an oversized island, diametrically opposed apliances, and small openings in direct contrast to its contemporary lines and homeowners' leanings. Avid collectors of American primitives, this couple was looking for a simple footprint with luxurious, understated finishes. Gone would be the large L shaped island and wall ovens; replaced with serious stainless appliances, simple tile backsplash and gorgeous countertop materials. A contemporary Kohler sink sits within a honed cardosa countertop and striking macauba white quartzite gives the island extra flair. A lift up mixer and roll out shelves make for a baking center at the island and ample drawer storage simplifies access to pots, pans, and utensils. With room to breathe, the kitchen's wow factor reads loud and clear: simple, expansive and memorable.
