    The stone from the exterior extends into the interior of the front entry. As it erodes down the wall, shelves and pockets are created to house the client's pottery collection.

  • Architect: Rawlings Design, Inc. This house was commissioned by the homeowner and built in an inner city neighborhood of Metro Atlanta. It has 6 bedrooms and 3.5 baths and has 3357 sf of conditioned space. It was built by Arlene Dean Homes in 2012. This house was designed as an "age in place" home with a Master Suite on the main level as well as two bedroom/ offices. All necessary functions are located on the main level with a wheelchair accessible approach and entry. The Prairie Style was invented in the 1890s by the Chicago Group which included Frank Lloyd Wright. It was the first Architectural style indigenous to the American continent and was inspired by the Arts and Crafts movement. It is also considered the beginning of modernism in residential Architecture.  The Prairie Style influence allows for better placement of windows to take advantage of natural lighting, passive solar, and natural ventilation improving over all energy efficiency.
