  • This house takes advantage of its large corner lot and Seattle's allowance for attached accessory dwelling units (aka mother-in-law units) in single-family residential zones to create two separate living units - each with its own private yard and entry.

The two dwellings are "flip-flopped" about a shared wall. The smaller accessory unit opens onto a private, fenced yard at the street corner, while the larger, main house opens onto a private yard to the rear. The main living spaces in both units are single, large rooms that open directly onto their respective gardens.

The project allows for not one, but, two families to enjoy single-family living on one lot close to transit and within walking distance of stores and restaurants - the ultimate sustainable strategy!
