Cottage Garden Fusion

A verdant forest has replaced the drab concrete driveway that was there before. Getting to the back yard has become an adventure in and of itself in which you can gaze at the many plants along the curving path. A climbing rose ("All Ablaze") scampers up the five foot high trellis that was added to t...

This narrow back area was dull and boring. By treating the wall with a Mediterranean wall treatment and placing a fountain, a focal point has been created, as well as a wonderful place to sit and drink coffee or read a book while listening to the soothing sounds of the water.

The serpentine path meanders around the garden transforming into patio when needed. In front of the guesthouse is a cheerful little garden filled with fragrant Peppermint Geranium, Lamb's Ears, Iceberg Rose, Red Fountain Grass and Princess Flower. The velvety textures of the foliage and soft colors ...

This charming Spanish Colonial Revival home located in an Historic Overlay Zone was a gem but its garden was neglected and forlorn. The front entrance was off to the side and, lacking a path to it, unwelcoming. We moved the entrance to face the front and constructed a curving brick path to it surrou...

The stately arches of this Spanish Colonial Revival house are an elegant backdrop to the bubbling urn fountain. This once unused space has now become a peaceful place to sit and enjoy a quiet moment at the end of the day.

Pendulous blooms of Brugmansia candida drip from a tree underplanted with Lamb's Ear and Calla Lily. Against the wall, Podocarpus gracilior creates a privacy barrier (which was previously sorely lacking) between my client and her neighbor.

The side garden was a depressing swath of concrete. Removing it gave us the opportunity to turn the area into an enchanting path that beckons the visitor to enter into the back yard. The plants are lush and abundant with ravishing orange Canna "Tropicanna" rising above. The original concrete was bro...

Adding the new trellis created a private space for the hammock. Painted a soft green, it compliments the warm tones of the wall and paving. The old brick had to be scraped and sanded by hand to get rid of the old paint but the effect was well worth it.

5

The ethereal blossoms of these 'Cape Cod' roses seem to bloom all year round. They frame the new brick pathway extending a warm invitation to come in. Seen from the street they look like dainty pink clouds lining the walk.

The gorgeous Canna Lily "Tropicanna" rises against the fence, it's flaming colors softened by the fronds of Australian Tree Fern.
