Excellent administration and more excellence to come. Classrooms are engaging excellent extra-curricular offerings high quality performing and STEM program there something for everyone! There's a place for every student and it's an exciting place to be! The faculty and staff feel more like a family and much emphasis is given to the student. It's a smaller PWC school so students are given more individual attention than they would receive in a larger school. The principal and teachers are VERY communicative with very high standards for both students and staff. The parents are very involved with activities with a large volunteer and support to school...often you will find parents grandparents and community volunteers. The staff can often be found given back to the community with varies programs. All around excellent school!!!!

My daughter has been a student at Henderson since kindergarten and she's now starting 4th grade. Her General Ed and Special Ed teachers have all been wonderful and she loves coming to school every day. Henderson has the excellent Olweus Bullying Program and she has never been bullied. SOL scores for Henderson have been outstanding and I've noticed the school's rating on this website has risen from 6 to 8 since the Principal Mrs. Bevans came to the school. She and the Assistant Principal Mrs. Goddard are super smart friendly innovative and strive to make Henderson the best school for all students.

My child has gone to this school for 5 years my only complaint is it's not a K-8. I don't want to say goodbye when my child goes to middle school. The support and care my child receives along with the positive learning enviroment is top notch! Thank you Henderson Elementary!

My son has attended Henderson for g K-3. Overall I have been very happy w/ the school teachers & administrators. As an earlier poster from early 2011 said there are some busy-body parents who do think they run things. If we're talking about the same PTCO leadership - they were voted out for the 10-11 school year. When I noticed my son having continued difficulty in reading I requested a Student Evaluation. Henderson officials were prompt in scheduling and offering suggestions. I never felt pushed aside. As it happens my son is ADD and at no time did the administration push medication. To date for g3 they (& the teacher - Mrs. Meyers) have been great in working with me to try different things to help my son succeed. He's had a 180 w/ the *help* of medication. I do worry w/ the loss of the new Principal mentioned below (Mrs. Rineshuttle) - the current acting Princ could be a problem. More extracurriculars would be nice but since I can't afford anything it's not a sticking/selling point.

Henderson is a great school. But it seems there are a lot of parents there who think they run the school. Class size is not the schools fault - It's the county and state government who don't put education first. If you think your child is not being challenged enough then you should take the initiative and challenge them. Your child is not the only child in that classroom.

Faculty & Staff are friendly right on top of things and very professional. Our children's best interest is primary. They been rated a School of Excellence numerous times and have implemented an Anti-Bullying program.

My oldest has attended this school for 6 years and my youngest from K-2. This is an amazing school with awesome teachers. There is quite a bit of parent involvement. The principal is an amazing woman. We also have an awesome assistant principal Felicia Norwood who is leaving for another school. She will be missed. If I were not leaving the area. My youngest would continue at Henderson

My son has attended Henderson for 3 yrs (1st - 3rd). He has had wonderful teachers for 2 of those years. Communication between teachers and myself was great because I made the effort to stay informed. I am not a fan of the 'new math' I feel students aren't given permission to learn in a way that works for them. My son is in the gifted program and I am very pleased with it. Disappointed in the lack of extracurriculars but it seems Henderson is making an effort to improve. I am impressed so far with our new principal. I think she will help bring some much needed change. There seems to be a problem with consistency in the curriculum I often feel that parents are not kept well informed as to what the students are supposed to be doing.

My two boys have been at this school for a number of years since kindergarten. This is a very good school. The teachers and office staff really care about the children and I always feel that my children are learning in a caring and safe environment. Excellent communication between teachers and parents. Afterschool activities are not important to us as we believe that is the parent s responsibility to be there for their children after school. Both of my children are involved with the gifted programs and it is wonderful. This school welcomes encourages and enjoys parent involvement in classrooms and other school activities. Moving to this area for this school was the best decision we made.

I am saddened to read the awful reviews that parents have given Henderson. Our family moved to Virginia from Tucson last summer and it was our son's first year at Henderson (he's in the 2nd grade). We couldn't be happier. His teacher noticed that he was having a difficult time focusing and he was later diagnosed with ADD. His teacher the school administration and the psychologist have all been wonderful and he is doing better now than ever with NO medication. He would never have gotten this far if he was at a different school. Kudos to the teachers and staff at Henderson!

My son is going to this school and he is involve with the gift program and it was a great idea but it is not working. It seems that he is too bored with it. They need to step up and make it for challegeable for him. There ar too many student in the class room for a teacher.

My child attended Kindergarten in 2006-2007. We are very disappointed. Our child was harrassed and bullied by another student while the teacher could not catch it. I witnessed several incidents of pushing and shoving by the older children and the teachers few and far between never noticed. I would never recommend this school.

Academic programs average. Not the top local school. music art PE also average. Mrs. spear is a great 4th grade teacher.

We just finished our second year at Henderson and love the school. The only drawback is the lack of after-school activities available to the students. I would like to clear one thing up though- The student to teacher ratio says 16.6 to 1. This is not accurate at all. My son had 33 in his class last year 24 this year. My other child had 28 last year and 24 this year.

My son has attended Henderson through 4th and 5th grades. He has not been challenged academically despite numerous requests. Communication with teachers about what is happening in the classroom needs improvement. Curriculum does not follow textbooks and is therefore hard to follow. Zero after school activities makes socialization a challenge. They say they want parent involvement but it hasn't produced much results for our family.

My son was in the first flip program with mr ricks who bent over backwards to make sure these kids suceeded in this wonderful program. the flip program gave these children higher math and science scores and pushed my son to work harder and he has gone on to recieve awards and hopefully a scolarship. it's too bad other states don't have this program. we moved to Arizona to find extremely poor schools. we are grateful to principal ricks and his flip program

My son atended Henderson from K-2nd grade and our overall experience was great! This school welcomes encourages and enjoys parent involvement in classrooms and other school activities. Since the majority of the students live within walking distance of the school it is very easy for them and their families to make and maintain friendships.
