We have 4 children and have moved 4 times and have experienced parochial private and public schools throughout our moves and children. CF Patton I am happy to say along with Chadds Ford Elementary have been remarkable. To bad it took us until the fourth child to actually send one of them to our amazing public school system here....but you know how hind sight is! ) The positive hype is the real deal in this school district in our experience and the academics are stellar along with the additionally very positive social vibe.

I have been in Patton for a short period of time but already I can tell this will be an amazing middle school. The school may be old but many clubs are now based on renovating this school The staff well most of them are very nice and helpful. I don't see why people give us such bad review because in my opinion we are better than other middle schools. Think about. Every school in our district has won some type of award or another. We are swag because we got dat Patton Pride.

We have wonderful teachers staff and students. Our staff work there hardest to make sure we can have the best education. Even though we may not look like the best school on the outside you wouldn't believe how many great electronic and written resources we have on the inside. The state has ranked us number one. All of our four elementary schools have won the blue ribbon award and so has our middle and high school. Over all our middle school is great and so is our entire district.

My school gives me a great education. They have helpful and friendly staff members and teachers. There is fun things to do and great technology. On the outside the school doesn't look the best but my mom is working on a beautification project from my school. This school rocks!! -D

I've been in this district for most of my education. I've read that the honors classes were no different from core which is wrong. I've taken honors classes as much as I can I'm in four of my five academic classes and the amount of work/responsibility/effort/expectation is higher. Bullying was mentioned before. One of my friends and my sibling have been bullied but the guidance office took care of it after the parents and peers joined the conflict and it got worse. They started as fights over a project. Cliques; we have a lot of them. I don't think we intentionally make them but it just happens. Sporty people are friends "nerdy" people are friends. I think we have a popular crowd and unpopular crowd though the athletic and class clowns are more popular than the "nerdy " drama-club and shy kids. It just depends on your interests in and out of class. Patton definitely could use a major pick me up but it does its job. Patton does care highly about test scores but why shouldn't they? They help you in the long run Communication seems to be an issue and I know that teachers do contact parents if grades are falling dramatically. Sports and art and really important at Patton.

This school has been quite a disappointment. Initial introductions & orientation were exciting & sounded wonderful; however actual delivery of quality education is poor. Many of the staff are rather haughty; the school is ridiculously regimented in their operations; & there is very little semblance of any sincere nurturing of these young childrens' souls. Communication from the school to home regarding academic progress is cursory and as mentioned in previous reviews if you press for more meaningful information you are met with coolness resistance & even covert hostility. I agree with many posters that the school's focus seems to be on "appearances" and prestige. If you are looking for a school where your child can grow & thrive in a nurturing environment I suggest you look elsewhere.

This is our 3rd year of experience with CF Patton. The teachers here are truly outstanding. They have made their subjects interesting to my children and they look for different ways to make sure the students can relate the material to everyday life. They also evaluated my children for their learning styles to teach them how to best utilize different strategies for studying and completing projects. They have a greenhouse where the students learn hands on about life science tending to harvesting and using the crops. The overage of food is donated to the food bank. What an amazing school this is! I love that the teachers post assignments on the website and that I can check on my child's progress at any time. I have not met the principal yet.

I don't know where did you move from Virginia but I moved from Langley school district in Virgina 4 years ago. It is not even comparable. I would not recommend these schools. They are kind of discrimminating people from out of area even in sports teams URA.

We moved here a year ago from a highly rated school in Virginia. The teachers here are excellent and respond quickly to concerns. Assignments are posted so you can keep track of your child's progress. The students are taught organization skills. There is a good variety of electives offered. The parents are involved and the PTO schedules many fun activities for the families that are a great way to get to know the community and support the school. The teachers really care and pay attention to getting to know a student's needs. There are many opportunities to visit the school to see what your child is learning. My child has had a very positive experience here!

I'm shocked that in one of the most affluent school districts in the area that the middle and high school in our district are such a dump! The "renovations" to the high school look terrible and are only a bandaid. Look at Rustin and the thought that went into the design of that school- beautiful. Unionville high school and middle school need a serious face lift. All that horrible fake brick. I can't believe we moved into this school district for substandard outdated schools. I guess we only looked at the elementary schools because we didn't have children at the time. Also I agree with the poster that mentioned bullying. the teachers seem out of touch on this issue.

My child loved the school especially all the social activities the sports the clubs and the affluence and had a ball for four years....but was totally unprepared for all the work of college! The "honors" classes are just for show- the work is no more advanced in honors than in regular classes. There was no communication or parental involvement regarding my child's academic level placement and ability the guidance for college was non existent the schoolwoefully inadequate with getting transcripts out on time. Big mistake staying in this high school.....

UCFSD is all about sports the appearance of affluence and test scores. Patton Middle School is a dump that needs all kinds of maintenance (sinks don't work handles broken off cabinets wall coverings peeling off etc.) and there is no money to fix anything because all the money is going to build the big addition to the high school (twice turned down by voters). Teachers grade according to rubriks that are full of spelling mistakes typos and then they don't follow them when the thing is really graded. However should your child deviate from the rubrik then it is counted against his or her grade. Teachers seem to have little understanding of what they are really teaching. The Administration is unsupportive and weak. If a parent does anything to try to fix the situation they are labeled a troublemaker. Yes it is a beautiful location in Chester County and the houses stay up in value because of the good reputation based on the test scores. Don't send you kid here if you have a choice!

Overall this seems to be a successful district. The school has a broad choice of classes and they seem to be well taught. There do seem to be some issues with groups of mean kids as well as bullying. It seems to go unnoticed completely by staff. Along the same lines we have also found this school to have more of an issue with cliques than any other school he's attended. Very strong academically but I think the school could benefit from some classes that focus on building good character in the students. With a some improvement in the social atmosphere this would be an incredible school.

this is the best school in the world when i moved this past year ... it just felt like this school and town is heaven on earth... i feel at home everytime i walk into school and the ares is great a small town but plenty of ameneties and places to go.. i love it

The school has a high academic standard however the affluent area effects the childs well being in keeping up with the 'jones'. I have had several friends including myself that are transferring schools due to the 'mean girls' syndrome. Very difficult enviroment for children and very little support from the administration.

Not as good as the other schools in the district. The leadership is poor.

We moved our daughter to Patton from Highland Park in Texas at the beginning of the 8th grade. We were a little trepidatious because this is a difficult time to move. The school was extremely welcoming the kids are absolutely great and she has had a seamless transition. The teachers at Patton have been here for a long time and their experience shows. For example they teach geography in the context of world events science even art - geography influences everything. My daughter is challenged happy and extremely well prepared for high school. The physical property itself was my only disappointment as the school desperately needs updating. All in all however I highly recommend Charles Patton Middle School.

This is a wonderful school district. Wonderful administration and teaches at the middle school. However 3rd child passing through and now do feel confident to say something not up to par here. Communication relations etc. don't click somehow! Many many students review as unhappy and bad experience but love the elementary and high school experience. Why is that? Also hear student reports of much bullying lack of tolerance and students who aren't respective of others/differences ... hence communication and relations to family/community to solve. Seem to keep parents 'at a distance' and other school workers report M.S. info is kind of closed door and vague to all. Less academic pressure and more 'values' encouraged might create better results across the board? Great school district wonderful teachers and families. let's get the M.S. up to Elem. & H.S. level/experience!

Wew moved here from out of state when our daughter was in seventh grade. I found the middle school staff to be extremely supportive and kind to her. In addition the array of extra curricular activites gave our daughter the opportunity to get involved and make friends. And after two years when asked to write letters of recommendation for a special program my daughter's teachers went out of their way to help us in the process. Four years later she is scoring very well on standardized tests and college entrance exams.

The teachers and principals are not of the best quality. Teachers will not listen to parents and principals are definitely no help whatssoever. Students are treated like adults instead of children. They do not believe that anyone can make a mistake and if a child does they are put down and degraded but if they forget something it is ok. I have had many problems with this school and thank god my son has only one more year.
