I am a parent at KSFA. This is my son's second year here. I selected this school because I wanted him to be around other students who are focused on college. Our fifth grade experience was outstanding. In sixth grade there have been challenges with teacher communication but the dean has been very receptive to my concerns. She noted that communication was already on their radar and I have noticed that it has greatly improved. The school has the best test scores in the area. The teachers are extremely dedicated. The principal is kind nationally recognized and is always willing to listen to parents. Is it a perfect school? No. No such thing exists ) But KSFA is a good school and according to norm referenced tests it is the top KIPP school in metro Atlanta the top middle school in South Fulton one of the top middle schools in Fulton County and one of the top middle schools in all of metro Atlanta. It is definitely worth checking out if the school culture (extended hours uniforms etc.) fits your family.

I am the father two boys that one is a current 6 grade student and the other attended all four years at Kipp South Fulton and has gone on to boarding school and is doing good. I am extremely happy and proud that my wife found out and researched the Kipp Schools years ago before our first son attended. This has proved to be one of the best decisions that has and will continue to positively impact our family. I am confident that this school along with other Kipp schools will continue to prepare their students for high school and college.

I am a parent to a former 6 grader at (KIPP South Fulton Academy) - just withdrawn today Monday October 29 2012. This is a charter school that needs to have its entire (2011-2012) 6th grade team and administration removed from the school. The teachers yell all day at the children and reprimand the students for anything. The students aren't allowed to express themselves verbally without points being deducted which will place the child in the fire station and have their privileges revoked. Students are put in the hall if they don't turn in home work the next day. This model is unacceptable for a charter school. The teachers are LAZY. They expect the students to go over assignments on-line that have not been covered in the classroom. I have contacted the Fulton County Superintendent Board Members and KIPP Executive Director regarding this authoritative style of teaching and bullying from the 2011-2012 6th grade team. I am asking that a full investigation and audit of this school take place immediately. No child should be treated this way. Every child s day should begin with a smile not a frown.

This is my daughter's first year at KSFA and I can honestly say that this appears to be a great school that has thus far met all my expectations. I have never seen seen my daughter so motivated to complete her homework and learn new things. The school sets high standards for their students and parents which is greatly appreciated. The comunication as been great between parents and teacher's. The principlal Mr. Pryor takes the time each morning to greet all the students and tries to know each of them by name. As a parent I have have been very impressed about what I have seen so far and looking forward to the rest of the school year.

WOW. I came to this site because I am looking to relocate but I had to take the time to comment. I am a 6 year parent of KSFA and there have been challenges. I would not dare say awful. I believe that KSFA has some of the best teachers around but most importantly they are held accountable for their actions in my experience. Am I a fan of EVERYTHING at this school absolutely NOT but I honestly believe that KSFA is a jewel and it is a great alternative to other schools in the county that practice mediocrity. Previous criticism I felt was too harsh although I suppose that they were speaking about their experience. This is my second one to come through and I do not regret it.

Kipp south Fulton is awful. Majority of the teachers are ghetto and they will belittle the children. I as a parent had to withdraw my child from this unorganized school. With this new principle this school has gone down hill.

KSFA is awful the principle and staff bully and belittle the children. Punishments are given upon the teacher/principle mood for that day. Different rules for different students the consequences are always to the extreme. Teachers will often get together and belittle the child. If your child makes any type of gesture or sigh it is considered gross disrespect and that child automatically gets three days out of school. If your child has been involved in any situation you will not here of it until 3-4 days later and then they are put out of school for three days. This school is awful

I would not recommend this school at all. Teachers yell at the kids on a regular basis. They belittle and demean the students. Those of you who know about the paychecks; it made my child say that they don't want to hear about a paycheck ever again. It's not good for the childs spirit. Leadership is non responsive to the concerns of the parents and students. Do yourself and your child a favor and do not send them to this school.

The experience here is what you make it. If I had been the parent to just drop off & pick up my child and not be consistent in being involved and challenge every rule I'm sure both my child's and my experience there would have been mediocre at best. Leadership would do well to stick to the contract & get rid of those who don't adhere to the rules so those that do what they're supposed to don't suffer. If parents stopped using SFA as a 10hr/day free babysitter the job would be much easier.

I would not recommend this school to other people. As a student I have the inside truth. Discipline Sucks. Sure you herd of paychecks. But that's to make them seem like the nice guy even though they yell and even 'Cuss' at students. Food sucks and is generally not enough and unhealthy. Don't be fooled just because they have 'KIPP' in front of there name

I love KIPP SFA! My daughter and niece attend the school. The students are encouraged to work hard and be creative. The work and expectations of the students is very demanding but it properly prepares students for high school. The school has a full time high school placement coordinator who very successfully aides the students in gaining acceptance to premier boarding indpendent and magnet schools. My wife and I are both teachers so we believe ourselves to have a valid opinion of a good school. The campus is lack luster at best and can often be disorganized but the learning is top notch.

I would not recommend this school. There are one or two teachers that are exceptional in ability to teach but the majority of the teachers are below average. Inconsistancy is a common thing. Its almost like they are coming up with ideas as they go. The kids have too much freedom to move around with no consequence. Children are in the halls no hall passes. The administration claims they seperate 7-8 graders from 5-6 graders but that is not the case at all. Dysfunction seems to be promote or not corrected. Its ok for students to speak to teachers or adults in a rude disrespectful manner. Students walk around talking on their cell phones. Adult material and songs are incorporated into curriculum under the disguise of creative expression. The facility is run down bathrooms are disgusting. The gym has makeshift areas for the children to change in which give plenty of opportunity for "accidents" to happen between boy and girl. Theres too much "group" work in class so if a child doesnt want to put forth effort they can slide by and get answers from classmates only to fail tests. Concepts are great as far as goals procedures and creeds but it lacks enforcement.

We would like to send A BIG SHOUT OUT TO THE KIPP SOUTH FULTON PARENTS/PTSA!!! Our parents are the best in the Metro Atlanta area!! Teachers appreciation week was the best ever!! Our parents have moved from GOOD to GREAT!! If they had KIPP paychecks they would have earned 20 bonus dollars. Thanks for everything KSFA Team & Family

Don't be fooled read the AJC from 2009 google the school and get a different perspective. You would think the school leadership learned from last year's bad press but he does not support the parents and the kids. During the assemblies students must sit uncomfortably on the old hard carpet for extended periods when they should be seated in chairs. The 1st principal had the students sit properly but not the newest one. Dilapidated building very little technology too many meaningless projects many teachers YELL bully and work hard at belittling students all the time! Kids don't get a break to learn from their mistakes. This is a VERY stressful place! There is little room for being a well-rounded child. If your child is gifted or requires special education services you will be sadly disappointed. Most parents and students are unhappy but feel they have very few options.

this is a great school i actually love it more than anything great great school

My child attended KIPP South Fulton Academy from 5th through 8th grade. During the four years I watched not only my child grow but I watched the school and administration grow. The experience was very positive and because of the efforts and emphasis placed on excellence my child was able to excel. She will be attending a top high school in the fall. I have two other daughters that I will (without hesitation) send to KIPP. My advice to prosepective parents Shift your paradigm! Do not judge the school by its looks. What is on the inside is what counts. The staff and teachers are devoted to ensuring that your child gets the best education available so that they are able to compete! The Austin Family

The school was very dingy and old looking.Hardly no supplies or hands on work and the orientation was not informative. This school has mold and is unhealthy for children. The teachers have high expectations of the parents but not the students.

This is my second year at KSFA. The experience has been a positive one for me. I have never been around a group of people who so wholeheartedly devote themselves to the education of our youth. The teachers and staff unselfishly share various teaching best practices etc... The parents are involved and the students generally have a desire to learn. Excellent opportunities are afforded to the students. Great curriculum hard working and highly-qualified staff along with great parents will help this school go from good to great. This school year administrative roles have changed and opposition to change is expected. Change your thoughts and you change your world. - Norman Vincent Peale

My child attends KFSA and the experience has been excellent. This is her second year and her level of learning is wonderful. KFSA does prepare the kids for the future academically and personally. A great choice for education.

KSFA has not gone from Good to Great..it has gone from Good to terrible. Not what had really hoped for. I will use the information regarding high school enrollment but will not use the KSFA name. I am proud to say that my child attends a KIPP school BUT NOT KSFA. Future parents really check into the school. So teachers are terrible and some of the administration are not the best either.
