California Standards Test (CST)

In 2011-2012 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.

Great school awesome principal teachers and office staff. Very happy with the after school activity choices and the enrichment programs offered at Russell Ranch.

My son has been going to school here since Kindergarten (now entering the fourth grade) and has Autism. I saw him flourish from a non-verbal disengaged child to having a huge receptive language capacity and a true curiosity for the world and discovering novel experiences. They have so much compassion for their students and are so very interested in their well-being I'm continually blown away by their efforts and progressive attitudes towards their students. I am certain my boy got absolutely the best education he could have received from here services for his needs and Russell Ranch has impacted our lives for the better. They give nothing but their absolute best.

I love Russell Ranch. My daughter came from another Folsom school which was also very good but was not challenged in her daily curriculum. I called up Russell Ranch and they transferred me to the principal Mr. Peterson right away. He spoke with me for over 30 minutes about the programs they have at Russell Ranch that would enhance the current curriculum. My husband and I went in and spoke with him the same week and signed up our child the following Monday. We are very happy with her teacher the student and parent participation and overall staff. They offer GATE curriculum to students who are identified as GATE based on test scores so there is additional academic work if your child is not currently challenged enough. We're very happy with our decision to attend Russell Ranch. They currently have the highest API scores out of all the elementary schools in the Folsom-Cordova district.

I have been very happy with our experience at Russell Ranch. The teachers are outstanding and always willing to go the extra mile to help when I have questions or concerns. I feel like they really do care about my kids.

Love love love Russell Ranch! Although we're newer to the school we've really appreciated the teachers we've had to date. We appreciate how the students rotate through centers and get to experience multiple teaching styles. Our BASE program offering additional reading math and computer time is a great way to extend the school day and enhance learning. Our PTA is a great collaboration between our parents and our incredibly involved staff resulting in programs and activities that enhance the standard offerings by the district and really add color and depth to the student experience. We're thankful for the Kindergarten Early Start Program and all of the clubs available to our children. And need I mention the API scores? ) Russell Ranch Elementary is giving my kids the solid foundation they will need to be successful later in life. They are not only learning a ton but also enjoying it.

Russell Ranch is a fantastic school that touches every student and challenges students at their levels. I am very pleased to have both my kids going here and feel like the staff truly cares about the students.

I'm very happy with the teachers leadership and wonderful programs offered at the school. The GATE and science programs are great and my kids love them. Could not be happier with our choice of neighborhood and school.

One of my children goes to this school and another goes to another one nearby. To use an analogy this school feels like the Science and Engineering department of a company while the other school feels like the Sales and Marketing department. They're both very good but have a different culture. Hope this helps. )

We will be moving to Folsom next summer. I am hoping to find out more about this school. This is going to be our home school but I heard that Folsom has open enrollment policy as long as other school has space available. Is that true? Could someone please tell me more about this school? What is the average number of students in each class. My three kids will be going to 3rd 4th and 1st grade here next year. should I consider other school in this area?

From past 4 years my child is attending this school. I am happy with the class teachers she had. Good in teaching. She likes all the teachers she had.She loves her school.

One of the wonderful characteristics of the Russell Ranch staff is the variety of expertise and experience. No student on campus is with ONE teacher 100% of the school year. Students are rotated through a variety of programs and instruction led by different teachers based on what would benefit them best. I am disappointed to think that there are parents who value one staff member over another because of reputation style age or just plain personal opinion. It's the entire TEAM that makes Russell Ranch successful!

Principal is very disengaged. He doesn't respond to any request you make even via email. My wife helps out in the classroom twice weekly and is one of the key folks that build and run the haunted house during the Fall Festival. Every year we are told that are children will be aligned with the best teacher suited to their personality and every year we seem to get the exact opposite-a teacher that is about to retire or is considered to be less interested in teaching than collecting a paycheck. Thinking strongly of private school in the area.

Our school is now in its fourth year and running quite well. I have read some of the previous negative comments about our principal and I disagree with them. These were probably the parents that like to whine and complain about every little issue in life and see themselves and their children as perfect. Our principal is a hard worker is always on campus interacting with staff students and parents. He is real.

Russell Ranch just opened in 2007 and has been wonderful every year and simply keeps getting better.

Russell Ranch is a great school. It has some seriously dedicated teachers who really care about the children and want to see them reach their full potential. They have added several before and after school enhancement/enrichment choices for our kids which not only benefits the children but the parents as well. The school is not prefect and there are a couple teachers that need to hang it up tenure is not our friend. On another note the principle is becoming a little more flexible but still very conscientious and ALWAYS thinking of our children s safety. Though it can be a little aggravating at times I understand his bottom line of his responsibilities and respect his position. The PTA is trying really hard to get ALL the school s parents involved and it being a new school this will take some time. With that said the parents involvement outside of PTA is outstanding. Without them this school wouldn t be as fabulous as it is. I m so glad Russell Ranch is our school and my kids look forward to school every morning.

My kids love going to school and are very excited about learning. All the teachers and administrators are working hard to exceed all of our expectations.

Last year was the first year the school was open and with anything new you should expect a few hiccups. I was originally skeptical of sending my children to a new unproven school. As mentioned before the principal staff and teachers have instituted wonderful programs within the school that are greatly appreciated. I do feel MOST of the teachers are excellent and are engaged with the children/parents and go above and beyond. However with all of this I did have some issues last year that made me consider pulling my children from the school. I m glad I did not though. With the new school year those issues for me have been resolved. I believe the school is starting to hit its stride and I m happy to have my children go to school there. I feel with the principal staff teachers and parents we overall do have one of the best schools.
