PVE is EXCELLENT!- previous posts are outdated- We moved into the area a year ago and I have 2 children @PVE. From registration to orientation to the bus staff everyone has been so receptive. Before beginning kindergarten my daughter was invited to a ReadySetRead program whereby incoming kindergartners &parents are invited for interactive workshops- that was great as we were able to meet staff &the children became familiar with the school. So many events - parent teacher Bear Walk tree lighting & parents night out! The principal and asst principal are present & so personable. I feel safe sending my children each day and they are SO HAPPY and excited about learning. The teachers are AMAZING! they keep you updated on progress and whats coming next- there is definitely a line of OPEN COMMUNICATION between the school and students family thorough print & weekly phone call. Coming from NYC I was afraid that a school here on the west end may not be as up to date or advanced and I was proven completely wrong! They have EVERYTHING in a clean well kept and warm space. I only wish kindergarten was full day as my child cannot wait to get to school each day! We love PVE!

I really don't like the fact that they play favorites and that there is not a lot of communication with the school in general.

Pleasant Velley is a Great School District. I currently have one child in P.V.E. It is a beautiful school building staffed by excellent teachers. The size of the building seems overwhelming at first. There are at least a dozen classrooms for each grade k-4. The building is divided into sections for K 1&2 and 3&4. In such a large school I was amazed that everyone seems to know the individual children. Whenever I contact the teacher or Principal I never need to explain who my son is. My son has minor special needs and the school has been very thorough about following through on everything in his 504 plan.

There are some great teachers here but you have to find them and parents really need to work hard at communicating with the faculty. I don t believe PVE is as good at identifying the kids that need extra help as the smaller schools in the district and the Kindergarten program is seriously in need of some new teachers who are not 'burnt out' (20 plus years of 50 kids a day would do in most humans ) It is a beautiful building but the bathrooms are not kept up and toilet paper seems to be rationed there is plenty of room for improvement here.

My son is attending 2nd grade at PVE and he is very happy there. The teacher Mrs. Yanchick is wonderful genuinely caring and makes lessons fun for all the kids. The facilities are very clean and teachers and crossing guards make sure that kids are safe. The school does not have an 'open house for parents' so it is up to the teachers to keep the communication with the parents going. Mrs. Yanchick is very good at this whereas my son's 1st grade teacher was not. Allover it is a very good school!

I now have 1 son in this school & had 1 son graduate from this school & I will say excellent school! Some may complain that there is too many students in this school but even though there may be the teachers are still amazing with the students! Yes they dont allow much Parent involvment in the school but I am fine with that I cannot complain. Overall excellent school!

I have a daughter who has been at Pleasant Valley since kindergarten. She is now a Senior at PVHS who has maintained a better than 3.0 average and looks forward to attending college. The PV school district has undergone serious changes in response to the continuous growth in the area but all for the good. Everything has improved and continues to improve. Issues of peer pressure are addressed. There is a dress code. No child left behind is taken seriously and recommendations from the school to parents are always made. However it's up to the parents to listen. It's still a nice community school district with high standards. I also have a daughter in the 10th grade and a son in the 2nd grade in the PV School District. Can't think of a better place.

My daughter attended pve for three years. The teachers were all really wonderful!! The classrooms are all really nice and everything is brand new. The school is not very parent friendly though. Most classes parents did not attend parties there is no class mothers and you were not encouraged to come and visit.

My daughter is in 1st grade this year. I am very pleased with Pleasant Valley. Being a former student myself I am sure I made the right decision letting my child attend it.
