Westover middle school Very upset with this school. My child was assaulted and I was not notified or any follow up happen that I know of. I sent emails to vice and proicnipal with no follow up. Our kids were made to stand outside in the rain because the doors were locked after 230pm. It is too late for choice applications for next year so I am continuing to be on top of teachers grades and my childs behavior

I'm in the military and for two years I coached football and baseball at WOM before PCS'ing. During my time there every teacher that I met showed nothing but concern for all of the students by going above and beyond for preparing those kids for the EOG's. Yes there are some trouble makers at that school just like every school other school in this area. The only negative thing that I wittness at the school during my time there was the lack of support that the parents and community gives to WOM. I plan on coming back to the area and continue to coach there cause I just love the positive atmosphere that WOM has to offer to it's students. Sincerly Coach Carr

Westover Middle School is a well below standard school. The teachers have no control of the students and the leadership is poor - They will suspend a child for a minor infraction and will not mediate between teacher and students. The students are not prepared for the EOG testing related to cirriculum is behind the cumberland co. system. The classes are over capacity and electives are cut. The parent involvement is disgraceful with less than 10 parents at the Parent meetings. There is no communication between administration unless you are an overbearing parent then you are deemed as a trouble maker. As military families come to the area my advice is to avoid this school and go the route of School of Choice.

At westover if the teachers dont like you they would do anything in their power to get u in trouble. I went here and I hated it. I promise u we would get a better education at the transition school for all the bad kids

Westover is a great school. People think it is a bad school but it's really not. It is mostly how the kids act that make people say that. I have been going there for 2 years. I am now in the 7th grade.

I went to this school for about 2 years going on 3 years. I really like this school. There is alot of fighting and teachers not caring. I was not going to this school for eight grade but now i'm going. The school is only preparing us for the EOGs and not for anything else.

My daughter is finishing her first year at Westover. Middle school is never easy but the admin. made things much harder. We were at the teacher meet and greet night and only 2 of my daughter's teachers even bothered to be there. Most of her teachers are dedicated and nice (She loves her Social Studies teacher Mr. Potter) but others could care less and won't communicate with me. And the principle can never be reached. The biggest problem I have with the teaching staff is their lack of organization and planning. They are really terrible at last min. timing. My daughter has come home on several occasions and not had a homework paper because the teacher ran out of paper or didn't have time to make copies. We haven't had too many problems with discipline becasue my daughter is generally a good kid with good grades.

I used to go to Westover Middle School and I think it's a good school. I think the teachers are nice and they treat you as you wants to be treated. People around the area thinks it's a bad school but it's fairly not. Since I go to a new school around the area it's not as good as Westover and probably say their academics are not as good either. If anything happens I would rather go back to Westover because it's a place I would like to go back.

The school is not a bad school like a lot of people think. It can only be as good or as bad as you make it. My child is finishing 6th grade and will not be going back. Excelled in all academics but was not supported by all the teachers. Some of them were excellent and really concerned but some gave the 'I could care less' vibe. Several attempts made to conference with some of them but they were always too busy. I feel that if Westover invited more 'seasoned' teachers to the school and the teachers cared about the education of all the children and less about being their buddy and being cool we would all benefit more. And if they would be more encouraging supportive and welcoming of Parental Involvement...Also offer more Extracurricular activities for the younger students!

My child attends Westover Middle School. She has been there since the 6th grade and now is abou to go to the 8th. She is an A honor roll student and has many friends of many races. The school is supposibly known as a 'bad school' but really the people that judge it wrong has really never been to it. The teachers and the principals are very friendly and help my child learn.

I have a child who just finished the 6th grade at Westover Middle. (Mrs. Hawkins/Mrs. Robinson very nice teachers) I was told by many people to not have my child attend Westover Middle because of violence (it's supposedly the school where 'all' of the low-income/undisciplined children attend) and low test scores. My child did get into a fight this school year but doesn't that happen at every school and even among friends sometimes. He has made many friends from all economical backgrounds and races. Very satisfied with my childs report card grades though I wish the EOG scores for the school would have been higher. It is also great to see members of the faculty involved at Lewis Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. It really makes a difference to have a student see teachers from his school doing something positive outside of the school. As the saying never know who's watching.
